Welcome to the Fenway Recordings Weekly Memorabilia Showcase! We’ve got a lot of great music history around the office, and we’re excited to start sharing some of it.

First up: the In Our Lifetime compilation series.

Fun fact: the title In Our Lifetime was chosen before the Red Sox broke the curse, with the hope that they’d finally win a World Series in our lifetime, which they did in 2004.

Released in the early 2000s, the series captured an exciting moment in independent music, featuring artists who would go on to become fan favorites and festival mainstays, including Fenway Recordings artists Consonant, Mission of Burma, and The Damn Personals

Volume 1 introduced the series and its signature look, presenting ASH and Ben Kweller in its eclectic compilation.

Volume 2 shifted the focus to New York, featuring artists from across the city’s vibrant music scene, including My Morning Jacket

Volume 3 brought things back to Boston, spotlighting local artists and bands that helped define the city’s independent music community. Volume 3 features the iconic DROPKICK MURPHYS

Did you discover any of these artists through In Our Lifetime? Let us know what your favorite track is!

Despite the fact that many of these ranking positions are rather dubious, it’s interesting that somebody thought Vs. was a pretty good punk album (was it actually punk?). We seem to be ranked 24 on Rolling Stone’s top 100 punk albums (of all time, uh, sure...)
