Long live the legend ✊🏽

51 years ago today the world lost Steve Prefontaine.

We aren’t inspired so much as by the races that he won, but by the way that he ran them.

There were no sit and kick affairs on his watch. He went straight to the front and dared everyone else to keep up.
When that wasn’t enough he slowly increased the pace and left his opponents gasping for air and swimming in lactic acid.

At the time of his death Steve held every American record from 2,000 meters to 10,000 meters.

He was a beloved son, brother, and friend to many.

RIP Steve. You are missed but your spirit lives on in all of us.

Congratulations to our seniors on your graduation! We are incredibly proud of each and every one of you and grateful to have had the opportunity to be a part of your journey through our programs.

Thank you for the memories, the hard work, the leadership, and the impact you’ve had on those around you. As you begin this next chapter, we wish you nothing but success, happiness, and fulfillment in all that lies ahead.

Senior, Aubrey Garcia represented Alice ISD at the Corpus Christi Sports Commission Coastal Bend Hall of Fame and Awards Show. Aubrey was selected as one of the finalists in the Cross Country category & was in the running for Athlete of the Year, recognizing her as one of the top athletes in the entire Coastal Bend region for all sports.

We are incredibly proud of Aubrey and all that she has accomplished throughout her career in the Alice Orange & White. Pictured with Aubrey are Assistant Athletic Director / Girls Coordinator: George Beltran, Assistant Track Coach: Laura Taylor, and her loving family.

Alice Summer Track parents, registration will officially begin tomorrow!

You may register Monday through Friday during regular business hours from 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. in the AHS Athletic Office (Registration forms are in office). Registration will remain open through May 29th.

Thank you, and we’re looking forward to a great summer track season with your kids!

First practice day is June 1st!
