A couple weeks ago, I celebrated my 1 year Kidneyversary with my Chuze Fitness peeps! I wanted to do this because they have been with me for the whole past year and were so supportive of me before and after donating my kidney--prayers, gift cards, care packages and check-in messages. I brought them snacks and info sheets and kidney donation and gave a very short speech 💚💙 It was a lovely time! Special thanks to my friend, Stephanie, for designing my shirt and flyer! turbosumiyah

In my lifetime so far, I have donated blood 23 times! Eight of those times were Power Red donations, which is where they separate my red blood cells from my plasma, keep the red blood cells and return my plasma. It's pretty fascinating for a science nerd like me ❤️ I have a special type of O- blood so I donate as often as I can. Alhumdulilah, this was my second blood donation since my kidney donation surgery. They definitely need more donors, so check out your local American Red Cross and schedule an appointment to help save a life!

Tonight was day 4 of teaching group fitness classes 13 days in a row. Some highlights were two of my regular members rocking their 722 Sweat Mvmt shirts in class (pictures attached) and one of them telling other members about it as well as learning that Ms. Lisa is a fellow therapist and Angela is a fellow social worker!💚 I love all my members 🥰

Alhumdulilah, I'm happy to announce my new permanent BODYPUMP class at EŌS Fitness DTLA! Tuesdays at 6:35 p.m. starting tonight! 🏋🏾‍♀️🙌🏾 Can't wait to spend another evening getting stronger with my folks 💙 Special thanks to my manager, Phat Nguyen for the opportunity!

Alhumdulilah, I had my post kidney donation surgery appointment yesterday, one day shy of two weeks since the big day. First thing I did was hi-five my surgeon and say, "We did it!" 🙋🏾‍♀️ I love that he was just as happy and excited as I was 🥰 At the end of the appointment, he said I am doing great! Just gotta keep taking it slowly (for me lol) and listening to my body. In sha Allah he said I am on track to return ro teaching my classes in about 6 weeks 💙

Today marks one week since I was released from the hospital. Yesterday (Oct. 4), I returned home after staying at my cousins' house before and after my kidney donation surgery on Sept. 25. I still tire very easily, am moving slowly and have some discomfort around my incisions. My recipient is doing very well! Alhumdulilah (all praise due to God) for our recoveries! Please continue to keep us in your prayers and positive thoughts! Thank you to everyone who has checked on me and especially everyone who has been so generous as to donate to my meal train or to me directly 🥰 It really helps to have one less thing to worry about during this time. I am only 1.5 weeks post-op and I have a long way to go--at least 6.5 weeks before I can return to teaching group fitness classes.
