Late recap from last Friday’s race at Doe Run Raceway

Practice did not go well. Car was running great and then an axle broke. The track was a bit rough so I’m sure that didn’t help matters. Got that fixed which is quite the task and takes about an hour and hit the track again. Running good when the chain snapped and hit the motor putting a hole in the side. So I really only got about a handful of laps in.

This is the frustrating part people don’t always see. The scrambling to fix stuff, the having to get parts, the expense and time involved. Daniel had to put a completely different motor on that night so when I went back on the track Friday, the car felt and handled differently because of the different motor. The entire race was delayed due to rain and at one point was afraid of it being canceled. I got back out there for qualifying, but you only get 2 laps for hot laps or qualifying so it’s hard to make adjustments off that. We did change some things for the feature which helped. Guess that’s racing!!!
They did have some cool fireworks to start the races!

After bad storms went through many parts of the Midwest, the entire town of DuQuoin was without power from about midnight Friday until well after we left Sunday. Saturday’s race was on about a three hour delay as they attempted to get the generator running after it blew a transformer and/or get some portable lights in place. As workers were attempting to put up lights, the generator came on and we were able to race all but the last 2 races of the night. Great job to all of the Sneed Motorsports workers!

Very happy with a top 5 finish in both classes! I’m getting more comfortable in my Hyper chassis.

Recap from the last 2 days at Marion County Speedway ‘the Bullring’ in Ocala Florida.

Friday I started 3rd in my heat and was running good until I
lost a wheel ending my run. My motor didn’t sound quite right after that so Daniel switched back to my A class motor. Saturday I ran the B feature Started 7th and that’s where I finished.

Not the best luck this week but it can always be worse and it was still a good new experience. Back to the cold now.

Thursday was the 1st Race night and my 1st race ever with an outlaw motor. This is going to take some practice getting used to the extra power in the corners. Also, with the rain the track changed from hot laps to race time.
Only made a B main, but I did gain 2 spots finishing 5th. I will try my luck again tonight!
