Firefighters on a feature route! 🔥👨‍🚒🚒🧯

Braiden Lockhart and Matt LePage cooked up something special with this one. This route is 60ft of full-body, exploratory movement; think stemming, pressing, and figuring out how to move your whole body through giant volumes.

Camp-out all night (literally the gym will be open 24 hours) at Sportrock Sterling’s STR 1440! ⛺🧗

The STR 1440 is a full 24 hours of rope climbing from 11AM on September 19th to noon on September 20th.

Bring your team of 3 and settle in for a night at the gym, swapping between climbing, belaying, and resting to rack up the most points around the clock.

It is not every day you get to climb until sunrise with your crew, and that is exactly what makes this one special.

Didn’t get a chance to attend Beat the Heat, but want to own a piece of history? Limited quantities of our Beat the Heat shirts are currently available at all Sportrock gyms! 👕🧗

This one is more than a shirt. The design was a collaboration with Joshua Martel, inspired by Sportrock’s origins in Zich’s Garage, where a group of climbers first dreamed up the idea for Sportrock in the late ’80s. Since we opened our doors in 1994, Sportrock and this community have grown into something truly special, all the while staying true to who we are. Joshua put his heart into bringing the story to life, and we think it really comes through in the design.

Whether or not you made it out to Beat the Heat this year, this shirt is a way to celebrate our shared history.

The Fall Sportrock Climbing Guides (SRCG) calendar is live! 🍂🧗

Crisp air and perfect climbing temps are on the way, and you are totally ready to climb outside!

SRCG is Sportrock’s in-house mountain guiding service, designed to help you progress beyond the gym and onto real rock. Learn essential skills like anchor building, rappelling, outdoor safety, in the gyms or outside at local climbing spots. We also host curated outdoor destination trips (now booking Puerto Rico!) which can be truly life changing for participants.

New to climbing? Start with Outdoor Ascent, our guided experience at Carderock where our guides handle the route, ropes, and gear so all you have to do is show up and climb.

The Sportrock Climbing League is a three-round team bouldering series for all levels at the Sportrock Performance Institute in Alexandria, with top teams advancing to Finals for the title. It is also one of the best ways to meet more people in the DMV climbing community!

The wait is over! Join us for the Grand Opening of Sportrock Lorton, our fourth and newest gym, on Sunday, August 30th! 🎉🧗

Since opening earlier this month, Lorton has already been filled with incredible energy from our members and community, and now it is time to celebrate together. Come explore our space inside the historic old Liberty Market prison cafeteria and enjoy a full day of climbing, community, and celebration.

Here is what to expect:
🧗 Climbing terrain for all skill levels
🏋️ A brand new fitness, cardio, and yoga area
📚 Programming throughout the day
🎲 Lawn games for non-climbers too

Intro to Organized Youth Climbing (IOYC) is where all kids in Sportrock’s progressive youth programming begin! 🧗

Over 8 weeks, kids ages 4 (varies by gym) to 13 build real skills, make friends, and grow their confidence with an experienced coach guiding every move. No experience and no membership required.

Perfect for kids who caught the bug at summer camp, are curious to try climbing, or need a fun way to stay active all school year without the pressure of a team.

First September sessions:

📍 Lorton | September 5
📍 Sterling | September 11

Once athletes have completed a session of IOYC, they will have the opportunity to move on to either the Recreational Team or the S1 Skill Building Team.
