Lady Mustangs Keep Rolling with Sweep at Bracken County
The Brossart Lady Mustangs continued their remarkable start to the season Thursday night, traveling to Bracken County and leaving with another convincing three-set sweep over the Lady Polar Bears, 25-15, 25-12 and 25-11. It was a total sweep as the Freshman and JV both won in two games.

With the win, the Mustangs improved to 11-0 on the season and continued their impressive run through the schedule. Brossart will now turn its attention to the All “A” Regional Classic semifinals Saturday, where the Lady Mustangs will take on the Paris Greyhounds. A victory would send Brossart to the championship match later Saturday.

Mustangs dominate from the service line
The Lady Mustangs came out attacking from the opening serve. Freshman Aubrey Arnold started the match with back-to-back service aces, and senior Callie Ritter quickly added a kill off a dig from junior Grace Frommeyer and an assist from senior setter Audrey Rebholz.

Ritter then delivered a monster block that dropped straight to the floor, giving Brossart a 4-0 advantage. Another Ritter kill, set up by a dig from Arnold and a Rebholz assist, pushed the lead to 6-0.

The Mustangs continued to apply pressure at the net. Ritter added another block, while sophomore Evelyn Laker and senior Hailey Heitker contributed kills off precise serve-receive play and accurate sets from Rebholz.

Laker was relentless offensively, finding open space in the Bracken County defense and hammering another kill for a 10-2 lead. Senior Leah Robinson then made an impressive defensive play with her quick hands, digging the ball to Rebholz, who set Laker for another point.

Rebholz later came up with a dig of her own before Frommeyer set up Heitker for a kill, forcing Bracken County to call timeout with the Mustangs ahead 12-2.

Sophomore Emma Sheanshang added two kills, including one off a strong dig from senior Josie Reckner. Ritter continued to power the attack, while Arnold added another ace to make it 18-7.

Laker and Robinson delivered key kills late in the set, and senior Claire Decker put the Mustangs at set point with a well-placed attack. Bracken County sent the next ball out of play, giving Brossart the opening-set victory, 25-15.

Ritter and Laker lead second-set surge
The Mustangs once again opened quickly in the second set, getting early kills from Ritter and Laker. Bracken County briefly grabbed a 3-2 lead, but it would be the Polar Bears’ only advantage of the night.

Ritter immediately answered with another momentum-changing block to tie the game. Laker followed with a kill off a Frommeyer dig and Rebholz assist, and the Mustangs regained the lead at 5-4.

Laker continued to find success at the net, adding two more kills as Brossart moved ahead 7-5. Robinson then delivered a kill off a Frommeyer dig and Rebholz set to stretch the lead to 10-6, forcing another Bracken County timeout.

Reckner added a service ace, then made another outstanding defensive play with a dig that led to Rebholz finding the “donut hole” for a 13-6 advantage.

Ritter and Laker continued to keep the Polar Bear defense off balance. Ritter added a kill off a Laker dig and Rebholz assist, while Laker recorded another kill to make it 19-8.

Frommeyer and Rebholz connected with Ritter for another kill, and the Mustangs moved to 23-11. Ritter then delivered a booming block for set point before finishing the frame with a kill, securing a 25-12 victory and a 2-0 match lead.

Mustangs close out the sweep
The third set followed the same script as the first two, with Brossart taking control early. Laker opened the scoring with a kill, and Heitker added multiple kills off strong serve-receive play from Frommeyer and sets from Rebholz.

Ritter added a service ace, while Laker and Heitker continued to attack aggressively. Heitker came up with a perfectly timed jump to send the ball back across the net, helping the Mustangs build a 7-2 lead.

Even Ritter got into the defensive action, making a rare dig that led to another Laker kill. Heitker added two more kills as Brossart maintained its advantage.

Robinson delivered a well-timed block to make it 13-6, and Ritter followed with another kill off a Rebholz assist. Arnold then recorded a service ace, and the Mustangs produced one of the match’s biggest plays.

After a powerful Brossart block, Bracken County made a diving attempt to keep the ball alive, but the ball came right back to Ritter, who finished the play with an emphatic kill for a 17-9 lead.

Laker and Ritter continued to add kills, with Ritter later recording another kill off a set from sophomore Jayna Wilson. Ritter then served an ace to put Brossart ahead 23-11.

Wilson closed out the match in style, finding the “donut hole” with a perfectly placed shot for the 25-11 win. It was a total team effort with Sienna Studer, Jayna Wilson and Claire Decker all contributing to a total team effort.

The sweep moved the Lady Mustangs to 11-0 on the season and set the stage for Saturday’s All “A” Regional semifinal matchup against Paris. With another strong performance at the service line, in serve receive and at the net, Brossart will look to keep its undefeated season—and championship hopes—alive.

Lady Mustangs Sweep Campbell County, Improve to 10-0
The Brossart Lady Mustangs continued their perfect start to the season Tuesday night, sweeping crosstown rival Campbell County in three dominant sets, 25-14, 25-13 and 25-9.

With the victory, the Mustangs improved to 10-0 overall and 2-0 in district play. Brossart will travel to Bracken County tomorrow for a 10th Region matchup against the Lady Polar Bears.

Mustangs set the tone early
The Lady Mustangs wasted no time establishing control in the opening set. Sophomore Evelyn Laker opened the match with a kill off a strong serve from freshman Audrey Arnold. Senior Callie Ritter followed with a timely block, and junior Grace Frommeyer helped keep the offense moving with a hustle play that led to another Laker kill.

Arnold then added a service ace to give Brossart an early 3-0 advantage. Frommeyer delivered a dig to senior setter Aubrey Rebholz, who found Ritter for a powerful kill and a 4-0 lead.

Laker continued to put pressure on the Campbell County defense, adding another kill off a Frommeyer dig and Rebholz assist. Ritter and senior Hailey Heitker also contributed early kills as the Mustangs built an 8-3 advantage.

Senior Leah Robinson added a well-placed kill off a Laker dig and Rebholz assist, while senior Josie Reckner delivered a service ace to extend the lead to 13-7. Reckner was equally impressive defensively, tracking down nearly every ball that came her way.

Ritter and Laker continued to find success at the net, and Heitker added another kill late in the set. Laker then closed out the opening frame with back-to-back service aces, putting Brossart at set point, 24-14. Campbell County’s final attack sailed out of bounds, giving the Mustangs a 25-14 win.

Ritter’s blocking leads the way in Set 2
The second set began with Ritter making an immediate impact at the net, recording two timely blocks to give the Mustangs a 2-0 lead.

Arnold followed with a strong serve that led to a Laker kill, and the Mustangs quickly moved ahead 7-3. Laker continued to lead the Brossart attack, while Robinson added a kill to push the advantage to 11-4.

Reckner made a key defensive play with a dig that led to another Robinson kill. Frommeyer then recorded a service ace, and Laker added another kill off a Reckner dig and Rebholz assist to make it 15-5.

Ritter continued her outstanding performance with another block and a kill. Arnold added another service ace, and the Mustangs maintained control throughout the remainder of the set.

With Brossart leading 24-12, Ritter delivered yet another perfectly timed block to close out the second set, 25-13. The Mustangs took a 2-0 lead in the match.

Mustangs finish with a dominant third set
The third set followed the same pattern as the first two, with Brossart racing to an early lead. Ritter opened the scoring with a block, followed by kills from Laker and Ritter. Arnold added another service ace as the Mustangs jumped ahead 6-0.

Campbell County briefly stopped the run with a kill, but Laker answered with another offensive strike. Ritter then added a kill off a Laker serve-receive and Rebholz assist, giving Brossart a 10-2 advantage.

Laker continued to control the net, recording another kill to make it 12-2. Arnold and Frommeyer helped keep the offense in rhythm with strong serve-receive play, while Rebholz continued to distribute the ball effectively.

Laker added a service ace to push the score to 15-3, and Arnold later recorded a kill off a Heitker dig and Rebholz assist. Reckner contributed back-to-back service aces, helping the Mustangs build an 18-4 lead.

Robinson and Ritter added late kills, while Laker and Frommeyer continued to provide strong defensive play. Ritter’s final kill moved Brossart to match point at 24-7.

The match ended when Arnold finished off a strong rally with a kill following a Frommeyer serve-receive and Rebholz assist. The 25-9 victory completed the sweep.

The Lady Mustangs now stand at 10-0 on the season and 2-0 in district play as they prepare for their upcoming 10th Region contest at Bracken County. Congratulations to the Freshman on a great two set Win and the JV played a thrilling 3 game set.
