QBX athlete, Briley Prickett, showing a great read!

In this play, the defense is in cover 2 man.

The play has trips to the left side. A traditional conflicting concept, the inside receiver runs a go route right at the safety while the middle receiver and outside receiver run a smash concept. The safety has to choose. If her first step is to the middle of the field, you hit the corner (if her first step is to the corner, you have leverage with the go). If you watch closely, the safety’s first step is to the middle, then she quickly readjusts to cover the corner. It was too late. Briley identified it and threw the corner.

Love seeing this! Quick read by the QB and a sign of great processing and intelligence!

And another one! This time it’s QBX athlete (and 6th grader), Evy Bolding, with a BOMB 💣 deep down the field!

Let’s break this down!

QBX athlete, Henley Kilpatrick, doing her thing in a region matchup tonight.

Looks off the safety and finds the wheel down the sideline. And drops a dime!

Great route and catch by Ella Brown, one of the state’s leading receivers!

Great night for QBX!

Henley Kilpatrick of Albertville threw three TD’s in their 28-7 win against Anniston tonight! Great reads, great ball placement, and an even-keeled attitude all game. One highlight was looking off the safety and throwing an absolute dime on the other side of the field.

Briley Prickett dressed out with varsity due to her JV performance the last few games! She’s a 7th grader putting on the Nike stripe and mixing it up with the varsity girls! That’s huge!

Proud of these girls!

Meet Owen Hooper.

8th grade QB at Albertville Middle School. He transferred in late this year, but the kid has the skillset to be a special talent for the Aggies in the future.

I got this slow-mo video of his drop, feet/shoulder turn (for progression), and his release. Look at the tucked elbows, the vertical ball for protection, and the ball placed two-three inches below the chin. I tell QB’s they should be able to pat their hip with their right hand and rub their face with their left once they’ve released the ball. Also, the feet post-throw = perfection. Great mechanics here! And a great ball!
