🏀 Same rec basketball. More opportunity. Less cost.

SMPA’s Boys and Girls Basketball Academy Registration is replacing traditional “Rec Center basketball” with everything families already know and love, including the same location, sign-up process, draft process, and 5v5 games.

But now, we're adding basketball instruction from experienced professionals, plus the Academy is only $25!

For ages 5–12, this is a great opportunity for young athletes to build their skills, learn the game, and have fun on the court. For more details information, visit our event page or RecDesk.

They ran it. They walked it. They conquered the river! 🌊

A huge thank you to everyone who came out for the Lazy River 5K at Sand Mountain Park! We loved seeing so many people take on this unique challenge and make some memories along the way.

But we’re not done moving! We’re now offering Lazy River Run/Walk classes:
- Wednesdays at 5:00 AM
- Fridays at 9:00 AM

Classes will be held as long as weather allows. Come get your miles in, stay active, and enjoy a little time on the river!

More than a game. More than a tournament. A day to remember.

Join us Friday, September 11, at Sand Mountain Park for the 4th Annual First Responders Softball Tournament, honoring the men and women who serve our communities and remembering the 343 firefighters who made the ultimate sacrifice on 9/11.

The day begins with the 3.43 Mile Fireman’s Memorial Run at 8:00 AM, followed by an Opening Ceremony at 9:00 AM and softball games beginning at 9:30 AM.

Come out to play, support, and honor those who serve.

We're revving things up for the first Sand Mountain Car Show on October 24!

Bring your classic, muscle car, truck, Jeep, import, or motorcycle and compete for prizes, or simply come enjoy the lineup, food trucks, vendors, and a fun day at SMPA.

“31 laps in 1.5 hours! 've never entered a race, never won a medal but this year is full of firsts. Woke up this morning at my lightest weight so far (263lbs down from 345lbs) my alarm went off at 5:40 and i decided to show up. So proud of myself. Thank you Sand Mountain Park for putting on this race! This medal means so much to me. I wanted to prove to myself that I'm capable of finishing this and I did 31 laps against the current!”
