🏀 Congratulations to Albany State’s own Na’Haviya Paxton and Shakur Poteat on being selected to compete in the 4th Annual HBCU All-Star Dream Classic on Aug. 8 at the legendary Rucker Park in Harlem, New York City! Paxton and Poteat are among only 40 HBCU student-athletes chosen to participate in this nationally recognized showcase, highlighting the athletic talent, academic excellence, and cultural impact of Historically Black Colleges and Universities.

🏀 Welcome Xavier Sorrell to Albany State Men’s Basketball! 🐏💙💛
The Golden Rams are excited to welcome Xavier Sorrell, a 6’4 wing/forward from Los Angeles, California, to Albany State Men’s Basketball.
Xavier brings a unique combination of toughness, versatility, and winning experience to Ram Nation. A relentless competitor, he established himself as one of the most productive Defenders in his conference.
Last season, Xavier averaged 7.7 points and 6.5 rebounds per game while shooting an impressive 59.5% from the field. His ability to defend multiple positions, attack the glass, and make hustle plays helped him become one of the most valuable players on the floor every night.
What truly separates Xavier is his defensive presence and relentless motor. He finished the season with 58 steals and 25 blocks, showcasing his ability to guard multiple positions, disrupt passing lanes, protect the rim, and create extra possessions for his team. His 175 total rebounds further highlight the toughness and physicality he brings to every game.
At 6’4”, Xavier has the versatility to impact the game in a variety of ways. Whether defending the opponent’s best player, crashing the boards, finishing around the basket, or making winning plays that don’t always show up in the box score, Xavier consistently finds ways to help his team succeed.
His leadership, toughness, and team-first mentality make him a perfect fit for the culture we’re building at Albany State. Golden Ram fans will quickly appreciate the energy, effort, and competitive spirit he brings every time he steps on the floor.

🏀 Welcome Trevon Taylor to Albany State Men's Basketball! 🐏💙💛
The Golden Rams are excited to welcome Trevon Taylor, a 6'8 athletic forward, to Albany State Men's Basketball.
Trevon arrives in Albany as a proven playmaker and one of the most productive frontcourt players in the region. Last season, he averaged 14.8 points and 7.6 rebounds per game, leading his team in both categories while helping guide Lyon College to an 18-win season.
A relentless competitor, Trevon scored 399 points and grabbed 205 rebounds while shooting 46.6% from the field. His versatility allows him to impact the game in a variety of ways, whether it's finishing above the rim, attacking the glass, creating second-chance opportunities, or defending multiple positions.
What separates Trevon is his ability to affect winning on both ends of the floor. He recorded 35 steals and 30 blocks, showcasing the athleticism, toughness, and defensive versatility that make him a matchup problem. At 6'8", he has the size to battle inside and the mobility to guard on the perimeter, giving the Golden Rams a dynamic two-way presence.
Trevon brings experience, leadership, and a winning mentality to Albany State. His high motor, competitive spirit, and commitment to doing whatever it takes to help his team succeed make him a perfect fit for our program.

🏀 Welcome Marchello Perkins to Albany State Men's Basketball! 🐏💙💛
The Golden Rams are excited to welcome Marchello Perkins, a 6'5 wing from Tuscaloosa, Alabama, to the program.
Marchello brings a combination of size, shooting, and versatility to Albany State. Throughout his junior college career, he established himself as one of the top perimeter shooters in the conference, connecting on 100 three-pointers over two seasons while shooting nearly 40% from beyond the arc.
At 6'5", Marchello impacts the game on both ends of the floor. He has the ability to stretch defenses with his shooting, rebound his position, and defend multiple spots. As a freshman, he averaged 11.3 points and 4.2 rebounds per game, while ranking among the conference leaders in blocked shots. He followed that up with another efficient season, shooting 43% from three-point range and continuing to showcase his ability to make winning plays.
Marchello's experience, toughness, and high basketball IQ make him an outstanding addition to the Golden Rams. His ability to score without needing a high volume of touches, space the floor, and defend multiple positions will have an immediate impact on our program.

Welcome Kenneth “KB” Brown to Albany State Men’s Basketball! 🐏💙💛
The Golden Rams are adding a versatile playmaker in Kenneth Brown, a 6’5 wing from Oak Hill, California.
Kenneth brings size, toughness, and versatility to the perimeter after averaging 10.4 points, 5.3 rebounds, 1.6 assists, and 1.6 steals per game while starting 26 games last season. He also showed the ability to impact the game on both ends of the floor.
His length, rebounding ability, defensive activity, and experience make him a valuable addition to the Golden Rams. Kenneth has the versatility to guard multiple positions, and will bring a competitive edge every night.
