Santa Clarita Mondio

Santa Clarita Mondio Santa Clarita Mondio Club was established in 2010 and is lead by OJ Knighten. The first trial (competition) was held in the United States in 2000.

The Club brings together dogs and their handlers that have a strong conviction to training their dogs to compete in the Sport of Mondioring and follows the guidelines that have been established by the USMRA (Unitied States Mondioring Association). Mondioring, also known as Mondio, is an FCI (Fédération Internationale Cynologique) authorized international working dog sport that was developed in the

late 1980's, by sport dog representatives from every major country. The sport combines disciplines taken from the working dog sports of French Ring, Belgian Ring, IPO (SchH) and KNPV (Royal Dutch Police Dog Association). The sport consists of 3 levels, with an emphasis of handler/dog control in every changing situations that involve distractions. Each trial consists of categories that involve obedience, agility and protection. All exercise are performed on enclosed field, with the dog off leash and without a collar. Mondio is a sport that requires an extreme amount of time and dedication from all involved, including not only dogs and handlers, but dedicated trainers and decoys.

SCMC is inviting you to come out and attend our Mondioring Handler’s Seminar with Margret McKenna November 5th & 6th

We spend so much time preparing the dogs for trial… what about the handler? Margret is an esteemed international judge. She will go through the exercises and show handlers the when’s, what’s, do’s and don’ts of competition. This seminar is open to anyone entering the trial and or SCMC/Atlas K9 club members only. Start time is 10am.
