In case you were unaware, October is Disability Awareness Month (and has been since 1945, btw). I know it has a lot of important meanings for a lot of groups, but this is the one near and dear to me.

I bet you were also unaware that Hawaii had it's own Sign Language! Sadly it's becoming extinct, and this article (with several short videos with checking out!) Documents one Hawaiian Deaf woman's fight to save it.

With the arrival of American Sign Language, HSL has all but disappeared. Its last remaining users are fighting to preserve it
