🌧️☀️ SUMMER BASH IS A GO! ☀️🌧️

A little rain (if we even get any) won’t stop the fun! We’re still planning to Kick’N Off Summer with an awesome FREE day of adaptive water sports and family fun, tomorrow, Saturday, June 6 from 9AM–3PM!

Come out and try:
💦 Waterskiing
🚤 Tubing
🌊 Boat Rides
🏊 Swimming
😎 And more!

This event is for individuals with physical disabilities and their families to come enjoy an amazing day at the lake. And hey… if we get a little liquid sunshine, we’re already in the water anyway — you’re gonna get wet!

We’ll keep an eye on the weather, but as long as there’s no lightning or severe storms, we’re ready for an unforgettable day!

Come make some waves with us!

Get Out. Get Wet. Get Moving.

When you increase your fluid volume, yes, the first few days your running to the bathroom like crazy as your body adjusts and gets rid of backed up metabolic waste. But give it time and your body will come back to maintenance mode at the new water volume; you’ll just be better hydrated on the inside!

Better hydration makes all body systems run a little smoother, the heart and lungs, the muscles, the skin, the digestive tract, reproductive system, and most importantly (to me anyway) the brain! 🧠

The brain is upward of 75% water, 💦 so when you’re dehydrated it literally shrinks your brain, giving you a headache. Just 1-2% less water can lead to reduced thinking capacity and speed, brain fog, fatigue and short term memory problems 😱

So even though beginning may be annoying, drink up!

Simple rehydration plan: set a timer for 5 minutes. Drink 1 mouthful every 5 minutes for an hour. Do this for several hours in the day. *If you take medications that can be effected by fluid volume in your body, like heart medicines, talk with your physician before doing any rehydration plan.*

Having some electrolytes in that rehydration fluid is helpful! 🔗 for a discount on Buoy electrolytes below. They are flavorless and can be added to whatever you like to drink, 🥤 ☕️ 🍷 🍹 🥃 💦

National Park Service says on X, “Tip: If you drink a lot of water, you won’t have time for other people’s drama because you’ll be too busy looking for a bathroom.”

Little G earned a trip to Roll Shack Abilene for rolled ice cream this week! This was a new ice cream experience for us and we were pleased 😄 Little G likes his ice cream simple: chocolate and brownie bits whereas I got the Walle: banana pudding cosplaying as ice cream 🍨 Both were delicious and served with smiles!

I chatted with Little G about how important it is that we support small businesses right now. I’m watching as small business after small business shutters their doors and as a small business myself it makes me sad and scared. I encourage YOU to support small businesses near you too! (And maybe my small business that comes to you by the magic of the internet 😇)

Credit to the photographer as ours were so delicious we dove in and chowed down before I could get a pic 😅

Thought this was an interesting article and also telling conversation in the comments as well. Will admit this friction point is part of my own spiritual journey as well.

Studies show that children with “invisible” disabilities are the least likely to attend church, and many parents indicate that their neurodivergent children have been excluded at church.

One parent argues that the church needs a culture shift.

She writes, “Inclusion begins with recognizing that every person, regardless of ability, is created in the image of God and has gifts to offer the church community.”

This has been a theme for myself and several others in my circle recently.

[ID: a hand holds a folded piece of notebook paper on which is written, “You’re not too much. You’re just finally not shrinking. ❤️ “ which lies in a rainbow 🌈 sunbeam.]
