There are many different ways in which people learn. First it's recognizing that participants may respond to different approaches, whether it's through seeing a skill demonstrated, practicing it themselves or receiving constructive feedback.

Water Safety Awareness Tips for Families

S – Stop & Think
Check the weather and water conditions before entering.
Look for warning signs and flags.
Never run near pools or slippery surfaces.

M – Make Safe Choices
Swim between red and yellow flags at beaches.
Always use approved life jackets when boating or river swimming.
Avoid swimming alone.

A – Always Stay Together
Children should always swim with an adult nearby.
Use the buddy system.
Keep young children within arm’s reach.

R – Recognize Danger
Know the signs of rip currents.
If caught in a current, swim parallel to the shoreline.
If tired, float on your back and signal for help.

T – Tell an Adult or Call for Help
Speak up immediately if someone is in trouble.
