Japanese Night - Friday 19 April 2024
The National Library and Information System Authority (NALIS) will host Asian Nights - a celebration of Asian arts, culture and cuisine, from April 17 - 19, 2024 at the National Library of Trinidad and Tobago, 23 Abercromby Street, Port of Spain.

Synopsis:
After transferring to the same elementary school, Takaki and Akari became best friends. But when both families are forced to relocate, their lives change. After a year of separation, Takaki is about to reunite with Akari. Sitting on the train from Tokyo, memories of the past rush through his mind as he draws closer to his meeting, Takaki and Akari begin to wonder if the will ever be able to see each other again, and share their secret feelings. ๐ต Japanese Tea Ceremony Workshops

The Japanese tea ceremony (sadล or "the way of tea") is a Japanese tradition steeped in history. It is a ceremonial way of preparing and drinking green tea typically in a traditional tearoom with tatami floor. Guests will be able to see, learn the process and take part in making Macha tea.

๐ Origami Booth
Origami is the Japanese art of paper folding. Guests would be able to learn the process of making simple origami art to take home.
โ๏ธ Manga Drawing Booth
Manga are comics or graphic novels originating from Japan. Guests would be able to learn the basics of drawing manga facial epressions and taught techniques by the guest artist.
๐ Calligraphy Booth
Japanese calligraphy (ๆธ้, shodล), is a form of calligraphy, or artistic writing, of the Japanese language. Guests would be able to write words or their names using traditional writing instruments such as brush and ink.
๐ Yukata Wearing Booth
A yukata is an unlined cotton summer kimono, worn in casual settings such as summer festivals and to nearby bathhouses. Guests will be given the opportunity to try on the yukata and take photos.
