The Pre Asian Games Training Camp at the International Boxing Training Center in Thailand is wrapping up as teams prepare to move into the next training camp in Japan 🇯🇵 and with only 12 days until the 20th Asian Games set to take place in Aichi Nagoya, all of Asia sits on the edge of their seat in anticipation as the athletes lock in before the greatest show!

Asian Boxing will have strong representation in the upcoming World Boxing Congress 2026 elections, with candidates from across the continent in the running for positions on the World Boxing Executive Board and the Sport & Competition Committee.

The elections will take place during the World Boxing Congress in Panama City, Panama, on November 20, 2026.

Three Asian candidates are in the running for Vice President, with one positions to be elected(second VP is for a woman candidate). They are H.R.H. Prince Nayef Bin Asem of Jordan, Rauan Igenev of Kazakhstan and Shohid Tillaboev of Uzbekistan.

Asia will also have four candidates contesting the two available Executive Board Member positions: Han Bo of China, Rauan Igenev of Kazakhstan, Kit Long Lou of Macau and Ali Takleef Saheed of Iraq.

For Chair of the Sport & Competition Committee, two of the three candidates are from Asia: Rauan Igenev of Kazakhstan and Kit Long Lou of Macau.

The World Boxing Congress is the organisation’s highest authority, with member National Federations participating in key decisions and elections that shape the governance and future direction of the sport.

The November Congress will see elections held for two Vice Presidents, two Executive Board Members and the Chairs of the Sport & Competition Committee, Finance & Audit Committee and Medical & Anti-Doping Committee.

The boxing competition at the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games will bring together 200 boxers representing 34 National Olympic Committees, as Asia’s leading athletes compete on one of the continent’s biggest sporting stages.

Boxing will feature 11 weight categories across the men’s and women’s competitions, with 12 days of action taking place at Nishio Gymnasium.

The competition adds another chapter to a history stretching across more than seven decades of Asian Games boxing.

Boxing made its Asian Games debut at Manila 1954 and has since produced generations of Olympic champions, world champions and some of the most celebrated names in Asian sport.

One of the competition’s most extraordinary chapters came at the Seoul 1986 Asian Games, when the Republic of Korea completed an unprecedented clean sweep, winning gold in all 12 boxing weight categories contested.

Forty years later, a new generation will step into the ring in Japan.

For Asian Boxing, Aichi-Nagoya 2026 is also an opportunity to connect the athletes of today with the history and spirit upon which the Asian Games were built.

The first Asian Games were held in New Delhi in 1951, beginning a sporting tradition that has connected generations of athletes across the continent. That journey connecting the torch carried at the inaugural Games with the red sun will guide the story toward Japan in 2026.

From the first flame in 1951 to a new generation preparing to compete in Aichi-Nagoya, the story continues.

Ahead of Aichi Nagoya 2026, the Pre Asian Games Training Camp in Thailand brings together around 100 boxers from nine countries at the International Boxing Training Center.
More than preparation for one competition, the camp represents a new level of collaboration across the continent and a shared commitment to raising the standard of Asian boxing.

Registration is now open for the Asian Boxing League 2026 in Amman, Jordan.

National Federations may register an unlimited number of affiliated clubs, with a maximum of two boxers per weight category from each country, across all registered clubs.

The two boxers may represent the same club or different clubs.
Clubs wishing to participate must contact their National Boxing Federation directly, with all registrations submitted by the National Federation through the Asian Boxing Registration Database.
