The world leading yoga magazine – Yoga Journal is launching in Thailand in November 2006. To be published under license from the US edition in Thai language, Yoga Journal Thailand will feature the very best from the US edition in addition to great local content. Typical coverage will include yoga courses and workshops, self-practice tips, wellness, food &
nutrition, wisdom, fitness, natural home, beauty, spa and relationships as well as events and activities organized by local or regional yoga communities. Yoga is undoubtedly the fastest growing activity in Thailand. The number of Yoga studios has increased to over 60 in 2006 – three-folds within one year. Experts within the industry estimate that there are 200,000 practitioners within the territory and the number will be doubled within three years time. And the last research has found yoga is the first choice of woman activity. Not only becoming more and more mainstream, Yoga is also moving up market: Yoga studios are booming everywhere, from Koh Samui, Chiang Mai, Phuket to five-star hotels in Bangkok. Nonetheless, prestigious brand like Louis Vuitton has come out with a full line of Yoga gear. The local Yoga scene is becoming healthier as there are studios and teachers specializing in teaching different kinds of yoga like Iyengar, Hatha, Bikram and Astanga, etc. Last but not least, Yoga is not an exercise or religion; it has become an aspiring lifestyle! Madonna, Jennifer Aniston and other Hollywood celebrities are renowned for adopting a strict routine of Yoga, which keeps svelte, flexible and toned; not to mention absolutely gorgeous.
