D1-LONATO Must Do Better Next Season: Players and Coaches Deserve More
For Togo football to grow, we have to start with the people who make the game happen: the players and coaches.
Next season, the D1-LONATO cannot be business as usual. It’s time for real change in welfare:
For the Players:
Regular salaries. No more months of unpaid wages. A player who can’t feed his family won’t give 100% on the pitch.
Decent accommodation and medical care. Injury shouldn’t mean financial ruin. Every club must have access to proper physiotherapy and insurance.
Contracts that protect. Clear terms, respect, and a pathway for young players to develop, not just survive.
For the Coaches:
Timely pay and job security. Coaches shouldn’t be sacked after 3 bad games without due process or owed salaries.
Training and development. Invest in coaching education so our local tacticians can compete with the best.
Respect for the profession. Coaches are the backbone of player development. Treat them as partners, not scapegoats.
The D1-LONATO has the talent, the passion, and the fan base. What it needs now is structure and care for its people. When players and coaches are treated well, the quality of football rises, fans return to the stadium, and sponsors take notice.
Next season should be the one where the FTF proves it values its own. Better welfare isn’t a cost — it’s an investment in our football. Still AS OTR for life 🤍💙
