Ajuongthii Community Association Resolves Leadership Dispute Through Dialogue in Juba.

Juba, South Sudan | 5 July 2026

The Ajuongthii Community Association in Juba has successfully resolved a leadership dispute involving the Chairman of the Ajuongthii Youth Association and two members of his executive committee following a reconciliation meeting held in Juba on Sunday.

The meeting was convened to address grievances between the Chairman of the Ajuongthii Youth Association and the Deputy Chairman, Mr. Gabriel Garang Garang, together with the Secretary General, Mr. Garang Garang Gau. The dialogue aimed to restore unity, strengthen cooperation, and safeguard the stability of the Association.

The reconciliation meeting was officiated by Hon. Abuor Gordon Nhial, former Minister of Peace Building of Northern Bahr el Ghazal State, and was attended by the Chairperson of the Ajuongthii Community Association in Juba, Mr. Tong Kuot Malou, Ajuongthii community chiefs, Mr. Atuer Deng Atuer, Chairman of Abiem Leaders' Forum and Chairman of Malual Baai Youth Association in Juba, Mr. Majok Mareng Akuei of Makuach Athian Youth Association, Mr. Kenyang Tong Kenyang, intellectuals, youth leaders, elders, and other members of the community.

Speaking during the meeting, Hon. Abuor Gordon Nhial urged all leaders to embrace dialogue, mutual respect, and constitutional leadership as the foundation for resolving disagreements. She emphasized that unity among community leaders is essential for promoting peace, development, and effective service to the people.

Mr. Tong Kuot Malou commended the parties for accepting mediation and encouraged them to place the interests of the Ajuongthii community above personal differences. He called upon all executive members to work together in harmony and to respect the Association's governing principles.

Following open discussions and mediation by community elders and invited leaders, the meeting unanimously adopted several resolutions aimed at restoring effective leadership and unity within the Ajuongthii Youth Association.

The meeting resolved that the Chairman, Deputy Chairman, and Secretary General should reconcile and resume their responsibilities in a spirit of cooperation and mutual respect. It further resolved that all executive members must strictly observe the Association's constitution, uphold collective leadership, and carry out their duties with transparency, accountability, and professionalism.

Participants also agreed that future disagreements should be resolved through dialogue and established internal mechanisms rather than through public confrontation. The executive committee was encouraged to hold regular consultative meetings to strengthen communication, improve coordination, and promote teamwork.

In addition, the meeting urged all leaders and members to refrain from actions or statements that could create division within the Association or undermine its reputation. Community elders and intellectuals pledged to continue supporting the leadership through guidance and mediation whenever necessary.

The meeting concluded with all parties expressing their commitment to reconciliation, unity, and the collective development of the Ajuongthii Youth Association. Participants welcomed the resolutions as a significant step toward restoring confidence, strengthening institutional leadership, and advancing the interests of Ajuongthii youth in Juba.

The resolutions took immediate effect upon their adoption, with community leaders expressing optimism that the renewed spirit of cooperation would contribute to lasting peace, unity, and progress within the Association.

University of Bahr el Ghazal Final-Year Student Quits Studies, Says Degree Does Not Guarantee a Job

A final-year student at the University of Bahr el Ghazal has announced that he has decided to leave university before completing his studies, saying he wants to pursue a different path because many graduates struggle to find jobs.

Ayai Deng Ngang, a student from the College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences, shared the announcement on his page, describing the decision as one of the hardest he has ever made.

"This is one of the hardest decisions I have ever made, but I have chosen to step away from my university education," Ayai wrote.

He said many people would assume he dropped out because of tuition fees, but stressed that financial challenges were not the main reason for his decision.

"Many people will assume that I dropped out because of tuition fees, but it's not because of tuition fees. While financial challenges are real, that is not the only reason behind my decision," he said.

Ayai said he was influenced by the number of graduates who spend years searching for jobs without success.

"In our country, many graduates spend years searching for employment without success. Some dedicate five years to earning a degree, only to spend another four or five years waiting for a job that may never come. That reality has forced me to rethink my future," he said.

Despite leaving university before graduation, Ayai encouraged other students to complete their education.

"My decision is based on my personal problem and should not discourage anyone from pursuing their dreams. Education remains one of the greatest investments you can make in yourself. If you have the chance to finish your studies, do not give up," he said.

Ayai added that leaving university does not mean he has stopped learning.

"I may have left the classroom, but I will never stop learning. This is not the end of my journey. It is the beginning of a new chapter," he said.
