Juba, South Sudan – As anticipation builds for the FIFA World Cup Qualifier between the Bright Stars of South Sudan and the Democratic Republic of Congo on Friday, 5th September 2025, the team received a major boost when senior government and football officials visited their training camp.
The Senior Presidential Envoy, Adut Salva Kiir, accompanied by the President of the South Sudan Football Association (SSFA), Francis Amin, paid a morale-boosting visit to the Bright Stars during their preparations at the Juba National Stadium.
Addressing the players and technical staff, Envoy Adut delivered a heartfelt message of encouragement. She urged the squad to carry the pride and unity of the nation with them onto the pitch.
“When you play on Friday, remember you are not playing for yourself or your family, but for all of us — and especially for the flag,” Adut told the team, emphasizing the symbolic importance of the match for the young nation.
The visit comes just days after the Juba National Stadium received FIFA approval to host international fixtures, a milestone achievement for South Sudanese football. SSFA President Francis Amin also echoed the envoy’s sentiments, commending the players for their hard work and determination. He reminded them that they now carry the hopes of millions of South Sudanese fans who will be cheering them on from the stands and across the nation.
The atmosphere in Juba is already electric, with fans eagerly awaiting the clash against regional rivals DR Congo. The arrival of Congolese supporters has further heightened the buzz, setting the stage for what promises to be a thrilling contest.
For the Bright Stars, Friday’s fixture is not just about football. It represents a chance to showcase resilience, unity, and national pride on the global stage.
