The Messenger of Allah ﷺ gave a serious warning to those placed in positions of authority. Leadership in Islam is not a privilege of power, but a trust built upon justice, honesty, mercy, and responsibility. Any leader who neglects the rights of the people, acts unjustly, or betrays the trust given to them faces a severe consequence in the Hereafter.
The Prophet ﷺ said:
“Any man whom Allah has given authority over people and he does not look after them honestly, will never even smell Paradise.”
— Sahih al-Bukhari 7150
