πŸ₯‹ KARATE NATION COMICS #3
THE ESSENCE OF KARATE: KIHON β€’ KATA β€’ KUMITE

Karate is like a tree. 🌳

Kihon are the roots.
They build our foundation.

Kata is the trunk.
It connects our techniques and teaches us to move with purpose.

Kumite are the branches.
It is where we learn to apply what we have built with a partner.

A strong tree needs strong roots.

And in Karate, we never outgrow the basics. We keep practising them, refining them and building on them.

Train your Kihon, polish your Kata and your Kumite will blossom. 🌳πŸ₯‹

πŸ‡ΈπŸ‡¬ SG61. GO BEYOND.

61 years of Singapore.
61 years of resilience, progress and unity.

At Karate Nation, we believe going beyond is not just about going further.

It’s about becoming stronger.
More disciplined.
More confident.
And always lifting those around us.

πŸ₯‹ Go beyond your limits.
Go beyond yourself.
Go beyond, together.

πŸ₯‹ Karate Nation Comics Edition #2 - Dojo Etiquette

Respect starts before the first technique.

Karate is more than punches and kicks. Every class begins with discipline, focus, and respect for the dojo, your instructors, and your training partners.

In Dojo Etiquette – Part 1 & Part 2, our students learn the habits that build strong Karateka both on and off the mat:

πŸ₯‹ Line up correctly
🧘 Practice Mokuso with focus
πŸ™‡ Bow with respect
πŸ‘Š Be prepared to train
πŸ’ Remove jewellery for safety
πŸ‘€ Stay focused on your instructor
🀝 Respect your training partners
⏰ Arrive on time

Small actions create great habits. Great habits create strong character.

Respect. Discipline. Focus.

Happy Father's Day!

A father is often a child's first coach.

Not because he has all the answers, but because he shows up. He teaches by example, encourages through challenges, and celebrates every small victory.

In Karate, we see it every day. Fathers tying belts, waiting patiently through classes, cheering from the sidelines, and helping their children build confidence, discipline, and resilience.

Today, we celebrate all the dads who lead with strength, kindness, and dedication.

Thank you for being role models both inside and outside the dojo.

Happy Father's Day from all of us at Karate Nation! πŸ‘Š

πŸ₯‹ Karate Nation Comics Edition #1: The Dojo-kun

At the end of every class, our students recite the Dojo-kun. But these are not just words to memorize.

They are the values that guide us in the dojo, at school, at home, and throughout life.

1️⃣ Seek perfection of character
2️⃣ Be sincere
3️⃣ Put maximum effort into everything you do
4️⃣ Respect others
5️⃣ Develop self control

Karate is not about creating stronger fighters. It is about developing stronger people.

Every bow, every kata, every training session is an opportunity to grow not only physically, but mentally and emotionally as well.

Which principle of the Dojo-kun do you think is the most important?

πŸ₯‹ Why don't Black Belts give up?

Because Karate teaches us something most people never learn.

A Black Belt is not someone who never fails.
A Black Belt is someone who keeps showing up after failure.

Every missed technique.
Every difficult training session.
Every setback.

One more step forward.

The Black Belt is not the goal.
The mindset is.

Some moments from Lisa’s competition in Japan during the weekend of the 10th May 2026.

Lisa finished 5th at the Tokyo qualification tournament for the All Japan Boys and Girls Karate National Championships.

This competition is one of the toughest youth Karate events in Japan, with only the top 4 athletes from each prefecture qualifying for All Japan.

Lisa previously won this tournament in 2023 and 2024, and finished 3rd in 2025 πŸ‘

She was also 2nd in All Japan in 2024 πŸ† and reached the Best 16 in Japan in 2025.

Another valuable experience and great fights against some of the best young Karate athletes in Japan.
