French artist Henri Matisse sat down at his easel to make a charcoal sketch of his grandson, Gerard, at his his home and studio in Nice. The brief clip above is from a 26-minute film by François Campaux which was commissioned by the French Department of Cultural Relations.

New Drawing Classes starting this month at L'Observatoire in Singapore

One of the best things about l'Observatoire is how there are so many different groups and people that go through... and then inspire each other. You can choose between Drawing, Art&Science, Art&Craft. But you may pick up charcoal during photography class, or collage during Drawing class.
Here, a 6-year old student decided she rather liked the charcoal portrait in the room (by 14-year old Andréa), so she picked up a charcoal and made her own version.
