There are many new darters who have reached out to us about darts, tips, and many more questions. We have decided to come up with a series of educational/informational posts. 😊
Intro to darts equipment:
A dart consists of 4 main parts:
⁃ Flight
This is used to stabilise when a dart is in flight. There are many varieties of flights, different sizes and shapes. (More will be covered in the series)
⁃ Shaft
This is the part which connects the barrel and the flight, comes in different lengths and weight, which changes the overall length and weight of a dart.
⁃ Barrel
The barrel is the most important part of the dart as it has to be a suitable and comfortable weight for the player. The barrel also determines the center of gravity of the entire dart which in turn will affect his/ her throw.
⁃ Tip
When playing on a steel tip board, it will be a sharp point made out of carbon/steel to stick onto the bristle board.
When playing on a soft tip board, it will be a plastic tip. @ Singapore
