Very sad 😔
Police have confirmed that the body of 11-year-old Muhammad Hairil Effendi, a child with special needs who went missing on 29 August, was found in the waters off East Coast Park on the night of 30 August.
Hairil, who was largely non-verbal, was last seen near Block 29 Marine Crescent around 11.05am.
A police appeal and social media posts prompted widespread efforts by the public to help locate him.
Singapore Civil Defence Force officers retrieved the body after a call for assistance at 9.55pm. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
His next-of-kin identified the body, and preliminary police investigations do not suggest foul play.
