The Four Heroes of Bajiquan (Ji Yunlong, Qiang Ruiqing, Li Shuwen, and Wu Huiqing) during the fifth generation (during the period ~1870-1930's) were incredibly influential at the time, each wielding immense power within the Bajiquan community. From then on, Bajiquan gradually formed its own schools centered around these four individuals.

As an example of one of their stories at the time. In 1898, due to rampant corruption there were bandits that colluded with corrupt officials and local thugs, bullying men and women, robbing markets by day, and smashing shops and homes by night, committing arson, murder, r**e, and other heinous crimes. Qiang Ruiqing gathered fellowed disciples and they attacked the crime gangs across the different villages and areas, they killed dozens of bandits, wounded over a hundred, rescued kidnapped women, and recovered cattle, sheep, grain, and other valuables stolen from the villagers. They were praised by the local people.

In the Bajiquan records it states that in the beginning Baji Jia, the foundational frame of Bajiquan had only one routine. From the time of M. Wu Ying there became distinct variations: Wu Kai open the stance, pressing the external needle, Ding Xiaowu known for the tiger moves in three steps. Gao Mingshan received a raise and press the elbow. Li Dazhong salutes with a pressing elbow. Wang Changxi focused on the raked fist, and Wang Sh*tong had received the White ape hooks and intercepts. From these six transmissions, six distinct variations gradually spread, giving rise to six stylistic branches.
