Asgard Fencing Club Asgard was founded by the top Sabre fencers and coaches in Singapore and has since produced Singapore's only World Champion in history.

Asgard was founded by former national fencer David Chan together with members of the national team to work towards the development of the fencing scene in Singapore. Here, we believe in the unique development of each individual, utilizing a special blend of training methodologies, rigorous discipline, critical analysis, character building and personal mentorship. Since then we have successfully cr

eated champions in every age category, and are proud to call ourselves home to the only Singaporean World Champion as well! We have a World Championship Silver medallist!!

14 year old Shuhan overcame a shaky start in the preliminary rounds, and powered through to an amazing podium finish at the Cadet World Championships in Rio de Janeiro, eventually falling in the finals to a dominant Pan Qimiao from China.

Shuhan started at 54th seed due to a nervous poule performance, but powered through her first two elimination rounds. She overcame her Ukrainian opponent 15-13 in a nerve-wracking quarterfinal to set up a semifinal rematch against the Australian opponent who defeated her 15-14 at the Asian Championships. Shuhan prevailed 15-12 and faced the reigning Junior Champion Pan Qimiao in the final. Unfortunately the opponent was much too strong, and Shuhan finished with a Silver medal, in just her second appearance at the World Championships!

This Incredible achievement at such a young age is testament to the dedication and discipline she has shown in training and competition, and we believe it is just the beginning of a long and rewarding journey.

This is Asgard’s second World Championship medal in our history, and we couldn’t be prouder. Congratulations Shuhan!

Our fencers competed in the annual Young Falcons International and delivered a great performance! We are proud to have brought home a medal haul of 5 Golds, 4 Silvers, and 1 Bronze🥇🥈🥉 This is a testament of our fencers’ dedication and hard work and we couldn’t be more proud of them! It is always a joy watching them shine on the piste.

Huge thank you to Coach Willi , Coach Kung , and the Young Falcons teams for organising the event! We can’t wait to be back next year!

Our fencers competed in the Singapore Minimes last weekend, and what a blast it was! For many of our young fencers, this was their very first competition, and they certainly did themselves proud. It was incredibly rewarding watching them showcase what they’ve learned on the piste, and we can’t wait to see what the future holds for these promising athletes.

Our fencers competed in the Taiwan Hope Fun Cup and we’re proud to share that they delivered a strong performance! Congratulations to Zacharias and Qi Zhi for clinching Bronze in the U17 Men’s Sabre category, and a special shoutout to Lucas for a great showing, bringing home two medals with Silver in U17 and Bronze in U14. • Asian Junior and Cadet Fencing Championships 2026 •

In the Cadet Women’s Individual, Shuhan fenced well throughout the day, losing only one bout in the poules and advancing to the Quarterfinals, where she narrowly lost by just 1 point to finish 6th place. Nicki fenced well, winning Thailand in the Round of 32 but lost to the eventual champion in the Round of 16. Evanna started off strong in the poules, only losing 1 bout, but unfortunately lost to seed 18 from Japan in the Round of 32.

During the Cadet Women’s Team Finals, Shuhan delivered an incredible comeback in the second-last bout with the Hong Kong team, scoring 10 points to bring the score from a 6-point deficit down to just 1. The team fought hard and ultimately finished with the 🥈 silver medal against Korea. Kudos to Shuhan for her impressive display of composure and resilience!

In the Junior Men’s Individual, Shane also had a strong start in the poules and finished 17th place after the Round of 32.

We end the year celebrating our Asgard SEA Games representatives! This SEA Games was the first for Christine and Julius, and they did well for the debut performances, with Christine clinching the Silver medal with the Women’s Sabre Team 🥈

In the Individual events, Julius made a strong comeback to 12-12 in his first match but unfortunately couldn’t get the win. Christine and Phu Xien fought hard in the round of 8 but lost to eventual champions.

There’s still plenty to work on, but we’re proud of our athletes and ready to put in the work for even stronger performances ahead 💪

We are so excited to announce that Asgard will be having 3 fencers represent Singapore in the 33rd Southeast Asian Games! Well done to Phu Xien, Christine, and Julius for making the team!

Shuhan wins the Eislingen ECC!

Huge congratulations to Shuhan for beating out 210 other fencers to take the GOLD at the European Cadet Circuit in Eislingen!🔥

Shuhan dominated from the start, winning all of the bouts in her poule. She then went on to defeat fencers from Great Britain, France, Italy, Hungary, and Germany to emerge as the Champion.🥇

Amazing job, Shuhan! We are so proud of you! ⭐️⭐️
