I still think about a couple I once sat with. ๐ฌ She said, almost apologetically, "our marriage is just... normal." No grand trips, no dramatic reconciliation story - just two people folding laundry together at 11pm ๐งบ, and him sending her a silly meme on a hard day at work ๐ฑ๐
She thought that meant something was missing.
I told her: that IS the love. The kind that doesn't need an audience. ๐ค
So many of us grew up on love stories that are loud: the airport chase โ๏ธ, the rain-soaked confession ๐ง๏ธ, romantic candlelight dinners with 99 roses.
So when real love shows up quiet and steady, we mistake it for boring. We keep waiting for fireworks ๐... and almost miss the person already choosing us, over and over, in the small normal mundane moments.
In my years of doing this work, the couples who last aren't the ones with the most dramatic story. They're the ones who keep choosing each other. ๐
If your relationship feels "too simple", maybe it isn't missing anything. Maybe it's just quietly working. ๐
