Well… apparently the baby years aren’t over after all. 🥹😂

Baby #4 is coming in 2027. 🤍

This was a COMPLETE surprise.

There I was, feeling all the feelings about our youngest graduating preschool, thinking about how all three kids would finally be at the same school this fall and how we were moving into this whole new stage of parenting…

Fast forward a few weeks and I’m in San Diego, alone with all three kids, staring at a positive pregnancy test. 😳

My husband wasn’t even there. I had no idea how—or when—I was going to tell him. We’d gotten rid of the baby gear. There will be a pretty big age gap. And finding out I was pregnant again over 40 definitely came with a LOT to process.

But underneath all of the shock?

We are SO incredibly excited. 🥹🤍

This little baby may not have been part of our plan, but he or she is already so, so loved.

There’s a whole story behind finding out, telling my husband, telling the kids, navigating a surprise fourth pregnancy, being pregnant over 40, and starting the baby years all over again—and I’ll share all of it.

And as a prenatal & postpartum trainer who has spent years helping other women navigate pregnancy, postpartum and motherhood… apparently I’m getting another opportunity to live it right alongside you. 😂🤰

So I guess I’m officially entering my mom-of-four era. 🥹

Now I want to hear about YOU:

Where are you in your family chapter right now? 👇

Remember when you used to finish a workout and just… leave? 😂

No lingering.

No “surely there’s another stretch we could do?”

No feeling slightly disappointed when the instructor says, “Okay, last one!”

Then you become a mom and somehow that one hour takes on an entirely new meaning.

You get to move your body.

Listen to someone else’s instructions instead of giving them.

Nobody needs a snack.

Nobody needs help finding something that’s directly in front of them.

And for one glorious hour, you’re responsible for exactly ONE person: you.

I still love working out for all the reasons I always have.

But motherhood made me appreciate that time in a completely different way. 🤍

Okay moms, I need to know: what unexpectedly became “me time” after you had kids? 😂👇

Gym? Grocery shopping alone? Shower? Commute? Dentist? 😂

Just because you’ve done an exercise before doesn’t mean it’s time to move on. 👀

One thing I hear all the time as a coach is, “I love when every class is completely different.”

And I get it. Novelty is fun.

But if your goal is to actually get stronger, improve your technique and see progress, constantly throwing brand-new exercises at your body isn’t necessarily better.

Think about the first time you try an exercise.

You’re figuring out where your feet go.
What muscles you’re supposed to be using.
How much resistance you need.
Sometimes you’re just trying to keep up. 😅

Then you do it again.

Suddenly you know the movement. You can focus on your form. Add resistance. Increase your range. Slow it down. Add reps. Or simply execute it better.

That’s progress.

Whether you’re pregnant, rebuilding strength postpartum, or years into motherhood and simply want to feel stronger, your body needs an opportunity to practice and progress.

That doesn’t mean doing the exact same workout forever. Variety absolutely has its place.

But good programming should be intentional—not random.

So the next time an exercise comes back in your class or program, instead of thinking:

“This again?”

Try thinking:

“Can I do this better than I did last time?”

Because novelty is fun.

But progress requires practice. 💪

SAVE this for the next time you’re tempted to think you need a brand-new workout to get results. 🤍

Somewhere along the way, I stopped thinking of my workout as something I had to fit into my day. 🤍

Instead, it became the thing that helps me get through my day.

As moms, we spend so much of our time taking care of everyone else. Especially during summer break, the days are full before they even begin.

The planning.
The driving.
The snacks.
The sunscreen.
The sibling squabbles.
The endless “Mom…”

For a long time, I looked at exercise as another item on my to-do list.

Now I see it differently.

Those 20 minutes aren’t taking me away from my family—they’re helping me show up as the mom I want to be.

More patient.
More present.
More energized.

Not because every workout is amazing, but because I’ve learned that taking care of myself isn’t selfish. It’s part of how I take care of the people I love.

If your workouts look different this summer, that’s okay.

They don’t have to be perfect to make a difference. 🤍

✨ Has becoming a mom changed the way you think about exercise? I’d love to hear your perspective in the comments.
