2nd place at this weekends RC Bike race in Eskilstuna!

Its was very tricky conditions with weather constantly changing. Wet track, dry track and rain mixed with sunshine. The grip level was never the same and finding a fast setup without sacrificing consistency was super hard.

The hardest part was to set the right length on the crash bars (they determine the max lean angle). Too short and you crash every lap and too long just makes ju slow.

Since this was my first time racing bikes in conditions like this I took a conservative approach with the crash bars. Wrong choice can make you go from hero to zero in no time.

Going 2-2-1 in the finals gave me a 2nd place overall. I am a little bummed that I did had more guts to aim for speed over consistency but still happy with what I learned over the weekend. Bike was great and I did my best in these conditions. A few seconds behind the winner in final 1 and 2 is still not far from succés.

I gained a lot of experience and had a great time with my friends!

1:8 scale pan cars has been the F1 class of RC cars since the 1970´s. The fastest and most advanced cars for the most talented, and dedicated, drivers. And the cars have been powered by 3.5cc nitro engines since the beginning. Nowadays the engines produces roughly 3hp and 40 000 rpm and the cars reaches speeds up to 130 km/h. Finetuning the engines to find a balance between power and run time has always been a big part of being successful. About 10 years ago the first electric versions was introduced. And on paper they should be outperforming the nitro cars – more power, less tuning, less maintenance, cheaper and easier to setup. But somehow the electric class has never been a success. While nitro´s still attracts large number of drivers to go to races, the electric cars only attracts a few drivers at club level. How come? We are living in a age where real cars are transitioning into electricity. And we see the same trend in full scale motorsports – fuel as a source of power is till superior to electricity. Or is it the sound, the smell and feeling of a real engine that’s makes the experience of motor sports so sensational? What do you think?

Albin Piispanen takes his 1:8 Nitro RC car a lap around the beautiful track in Eskilstuna, Sweden. Even though the track was wet and provided very low grip he stays on the throttle with full attack! Impressive driving and a sound that all lovers of motorsports will enjoy!

I´ve been racing cars for the past 25 years. I have also raced FPV drones and been flying RC helicopters at the highest level. They all provide different challenges, that’s for sure. At the beginning of 2026 I started with RC Bikes. Just learning to drive them was a challenge beyond anything I tried before. But that was the easy part. The real struggle came when l had to learn trouble shooting them and learning to perfect their setups. At one point I thought it was nothing but black magic. Trying to get the bike to always work “perfect” felt impossible and the changes I made did not always seem to make a major impact. Some days my bike had no wobble – some days it was wobbling so bad it was undriveable even if I made no changes at all. Slowly I learn and gain experience – but I guess the complexity of RC Bikes will always be some of hardest challenges in remote control racing.

Fastest lap, top qualifier and win at this weekends RC Bike race in Norrköping!

We had a great race weekend with sunshine and blue sky for two days. The track is quite tricky with quite low grip and lots of bumps and roughness. Not super hard to just get around - but really tricky to go fast!

My bike worked fine all weekend and the setup changes I did was in the right direction. Its sometimes hard to know how conservative you should be when settings the max lean angle with the crash bars, specially when the temperature drops during the afternoon. I did aim for consistency over speed in the finals and it was the right decision.

We did 3 x 15 min finals and I was a bit worried about runtime. My 6800 mah lcg batterys with 5.5t motor was borderline to make a 10 minute main in Eskilstuna earlier this summer. At this race I used my Hobbywing BL60wp esc with 5400 motor paired with 10 000 batteries - slightly heavier and less powerful setup but I go full speed for 15 minutes with no voltage drop. The cells where at 3.7v after the finals.

Really fun to drive finals for a total of 45 minutes. My goal was to make no mistakes. Lap times where high 28’s in the first finals and low 30’s in the last (when the gip was lower). I had one lap time above 34 seconds during the 45 minutes of finals which gave me a good consistency rating.

Lapping the entire field in all three mains gave me a confidence boost for sure 🙂

I had a great time and learned a lot. Its still my first season with RC Bikes and now I know more of what I should learn to be faster and better.

Really unique RC large scale F1 car! So much shiny details. The owner restored it himself from a bad condition to this amazing piece of jewelry. No expenses was spared. How much do it costs?

This is Frans Wallin - a 6 year old RC car enthusiast. He, among other young drivers, is the future of scale motorsports. RC car racing is struggling to get new young drivers to join and most of the starting grid consists of middle aged men. Seeing Frans take his 1:10 2wd car around the beautiful track ”Blue Hill” in Skarpnäck, Sweden while smiling brings hope to the growth of RC car racing.
