The Scholar group “Ioan Ossian”
in Simleu Silvaniei was founded in
1902 as the “Elementary
Agricultural School”, the first of this
kind in Transylvania. In the 107 years of activity, the
institution, thanks to the activity of
well prepared teachers, has gained
its place as one of the most
recognized and influential schools
from Salaj County, being also
important for the training of
specialists in

the field of agriculture
of the entire country. The institution has known several
titles:
- “ The Elementary School for
Agriculture”, since 1902;
- “ Agriculture School”, for several
years;
- After the educational reform from
1948 it became “ The Zootechnical
Professional School”;
- Until 1965 it functioned under the
title of “ The Agricultural School
Centre”;
- From 1966 it functioned under the
name of “ Agricultural High-school”;
- In 1975 the school received the
name “ Agro-industrial
High-school”;
- Since 1990 it was known as “ The
Agricultural Scholar Group”;
- Since 2002 it has the current name
“ Scholar Group ‘ Ioan Ossian’”,
Simleu Silvaniei.
