This is the bout that really made me hate foil. It's not the lack of bind, it's the beats from the square section. They're just so annoying.
A lighter longer blade really had me running for the hills and just using everything in my arsenal to counter Antoine (from REGHT, now I'm just missing Antoines profile if he has any)
I couldn't be happier with this bout. He had me using everything I got and really pushed me and I always appreciate that.

Going to Espatarios and having a private photoshoot with the great was certainly something I was not expecting. Let alone against the backdrop of the magnificent church of Palmela Castle.
For someone who always struggled a little with self image these ones were as much of a hit as the one took all the way back in 2023 or so.
Don't worry there will be sparring footage coming as always but there's still plenty from Dijon to go around.
In the meantime enjoy this small selection and see you guys soon.

This past sunday Espada Negra was present at the 4th edition of Espatários - Esgrima com História, organised by our good friends over at Esgrima Sadina and by Museu Municipal de Palmela as well as Palmela Município.
We'd like to thank the organisation for once again providing us with such an excellent gathering putting together clubs from all across the country in a sparring only event.
We'll be leaving some photos of our presence at the event, but not without thanking Esgrima Sadina once more because we know how much effort goes into organising this, and for mobilising so many clubs under a single event. It's always a pleasure to be a part of it, to allow more members to enjoy others fencing with a good spirit of camaraderie and above all friendship. May it continue for many more years to come.

There's still so much left from Dijon that another event got in between.
It's getting pretty hard to keep up with all the footage but I'll do my best.
In this one I'm going up against none other than Leon Roob or as he is now called, Sieur de la Touche.
A left handed sabreur who should be doing smallsword just for the fun of it. Next time it'll have to happen especially because I'll want vengeance for my button!
In case you missed it im using the which I'm still testing before making an honest review of them. Keep an eye out for that.

This time some rapier fun from against Christian Wiedermann. I don't have their insta but if you can tag I'd grateful.
Full sparring is over at channel where you can also see looming in the back waiting for us to finish so he could start his workshop. Sorry for that.
Fantastic bout and also the first one where I was bold enough to actually throw someone (I hope safely) but in hindsight we should have agreed on it first just for the sake of safety.
This weekend another event coming up and I still have so much to share from Dijon that the videos just keep piling up.

The full footage is already up on Espada Negra - HEMA Study Group. This was a tremendously fun bout not only because of the many snipes Marine (from C'Chartres Médiévale) got but because she's such an incredible fencer with a reach that often caught me by surprise.
If you know Marine feel free to tag her because I couldn't find her sadly.
And if there's one thing I did miss as well was taking a photo of her awesome magpie patch.

Sometimes footage just goes wrong even though the fencing was great.
For starters my tired brain forgot to note down who I actually fenced here, so if you know who it was that I was fencing please tag them and let me know!
Second was the fact that most the footage was lost for some reason hence making such a small reel with all the footage I had.
Fun sabre bout with me having to switch between sabres because clearly my THOKK - Personal Armor won't fit my Andreas' Arms and Armour sabre (but that's a problem fixed already). So back to the Black Fencer one on this one.
More fencing to come soon, more sabre smallsword and rapier so stay tuned for those!
