Captain Marcos…20 years side by side.
It all began at Praia do Aterro. I was taking the first steps with the school, and you were managing the Aterro beach bar. We crossed paths there, in the middle of salt and sand, without imagining we were starting a journey that would last two decades.
Over time, you began helping with lessons. First naturally, then more and more involved, until it became obvious: you were part of this full time.
The cold winters in Porto came. Early mornings that were hard to face. Vans fully loaded. Decisions nobody sees. The silent work that builds something real.
When I moved to the Algarve to open Salty Wave, you were the one who held Porto together. You kept the standards high and protected the spirit of the school. It was never just work. It was trust. It was loyalty.
Years later, when the Algarve needed structure and leadership, you made the leap. You left what you had mastered to strengthen something that was already yours too.
You were much more than a head coach.
You were the right hand anyone would wish to have. Always present in the good days and the hard ones. In the victories and in the moments when everything felt heavier.
You helped structure the lessons, trained instructors with passion and high standards, and brought clients through your reputation and character. You were key in Porto and a driving force in the Algarve.
We went through easy phases and others that truly tested us. But you never stepped away.
And that means more than any title.
You carry twenty years of history no one can erase. Shared laughs. Silent moments in the ocean. Decisions made side by side.
There is one thing that doesn’t change.
You are Salty Wave. You always were. You always will be.
Because Salty Wave is not just a name. It’s a spirit. It’s resilience. It’s friendship. It’s family.
Thank you, Marcos.
I wish you the greatest success May you find perfect waves, new challenges, and the same joy you always brought into the water.
This isn’t goodbye. It’s see you soon.
