Postponing recovery is a leadership decision.

And it has a cost.

When you keep moving without a true pause, your judgment gets narrower.

Creativity gets quieter.

The people you lead receive less of your best thinking.

Recovery is not a reward after the mission.

It is part of the mission.

Regulate → Rebuild → Rise

→ Regulate: Step out of constant output.

→ Rebuild: Give your mind room to see, question, and create.

→ Rise: Return ready to lead with clarity: and bring your people forward with you.

You do not have to earn the right to restore.

Choose recovery as part of how you lead.

DM MASTERY if you’re ready to build recovery into your leadership.

Feedback can be hard to hear.

But hard feedback is information about your impact: not a verdict on your worth.

Strong leaders don’t collapse.
They don’t defend every detail.
They don’t spiral.

They pause. They listen. They choose.

Regulate → Pause the defensive reaction.
Take one breath before you explain, correct, or shut down.

Rebuild → Listen for the truth.
What can help you lead, communicate, or serve better?

Leave the story that says, “This means I’m not enough.”

Rise → Use what is useful.
Release what is not.
Rewrite in Real Time.

Your value is steady.
Your leadership can still grow. ✨

DM MASTERY if you’re ready to turn feedback into forward movement.

Before you make the call, sort the signal.

High-level leadership asks for more than a fast answer.

It asks for an honest one.

Regulate → Take one breath. Let the pressure settle.

Rebuild → Write three lists:
✓ What do I know?
✓ What am I afraid might happen?
✓ What feels familiar: but may no longer fit?

Rise → Decide from the facts, not the fear or the comfort of repeating the past.

Fear can sound urgent.
Familiarity can sound safe.
Neither gets to lead your mission.

You do.

That is decision hygiene.
Not overthinking.
A clean reset before your next move.

DM ALIGNMENT if you’re ready to make your next leadership decision from power, not pressure.

Your leadership is bigger than what people can do for you.

It is what they become because you led them.

Regulate → Release the need to be the only expert in the room.

Rebuild → Give people context, ownership, and room to think.

Rise → Watch capability spread beyond your direct reach.

The goal is not to create followers who need your approval for every move.

The goal is to create leaders who carry the mission forward with confidence.

That is impact.

That is legacy.

What you keep excusing becomes what your team learns to expect.

Not because you lack care.

Because repetition teaches louder than intention.

You can care deeply and still stop making room for patterns that weaken standards, trust, and team wellbeing.

Regulate → Notice what you keep excusing without defending it.

Rebuild → Define the standard that supports the mission.

Rise → Model it consistently, especially when looking away feels easier.

Your culture is being shaped in real time.

Make sure it reflects the leader you are becoming. ✨

Being visible does not mean becoming louder than yourself.

It means letting people experience the real leader in front of them.

Regulate → Drop the performance and feel your feet on the ground.

Rebuild → Say the thing you believe, in your own voice, without overexplaining.

Rise → Let your presence do more work than your polish.

People do not need a perfect leader.

They need a present one.

Your voice can be clear and human at the same time.

DM ALIGNMENT if you are ready to be seen without pretending.

Your next powerful move may be a pause.

Not a retreat.
Not silence for effect.
A real pause before you respond.

When the message lands.
When the room gets tense.
When your first impulse wants to take over.

Pause.
Breathe.
Listen fully.

Regulate → Rebuild → Rise

✨ Regulate: Notice what is happening within you before you make it everyone else’s problem.

✨ Rebuild: Create enough space to choose a response aligned with your values.

✨ Rise: Lead from grounded presence instead of pressure.

The pause gives you access to your power.

It helps you hear what is actually being said.

It keeps urgency from choosing your words.

It lets self-leadership lead.

You do not have to answer immediately to prove you are capable.

Try this today:

Before your next response, take one slow breath and ask, “What response serves the mission, the relationship, and the leader I am becoming?”

That small pause can change the entire conversation.

On Thursday, August 27, I’ll celebrate my birthday by beginning a PhD program.

After years of leadership, service, business, athletics, and life experience, I’m becoming a student again.

That feels exciting.

It also feels humbling.

I’ll be reading, asking questions, taking notes, and learning in real time.

And that is part of the message I want my life to model:

Leadership does not mean having every answer.

Sometimes leadership looks like being willing to begin again.

It is never too late to learn, grow, or step into a chapter that asks more of you.

Your small action today: write down one thing you want to learn, then give it 10 focused minutes.

Your turn: comment NEXT CHAPTER and tell me what you’re beginning, learning, or stepping into. You can also leave a birthday wish for me. 🎉

If you want a personal reflection prompt to help you name your next chapter, DM me NEXT CHAPTER. I’ll send it to you. ✨

On Thursday, August 27, I turn another year older: and begin my PhD.

New books. New questions. New routines. And plenty of moments when I’ll have to remind myself, “I’m still learning.”

I’ve led teams, coached leaders, spoken on stages, and built a life I’m proud of.

Now I’m choosing to become a beginner again.

That’s the lesson I want to make visible: growth doesn’t end when you become accomplished.

You can be a Veteran, executive, woman, high performer, or leader: and still raise your hand, ask for help, take notes, and learn something from scratch.

What are you learning or beginning right now? Share it below. ✨

If you’d like a reflection prompt to help you name your next step, DM me PROMPT.
