Last weekend in Rome was another reminder of why I love this sport.
This event wasn’t just about competition - it was about building a stronger and an aligned calisthenics community.
The head organizer is one of my trainees, and seeing him create such a high-level event makes me incredibly proud. S/o ED ROCHA | CALISTHENICS 👑. My role this weekend was to oversee judging standards, resolve disputes, and make sure every athlete was treated fairly. Consistency and fairness are what give competition its true value.
Saturday belonged to statics, judged through a detailed scoring system that rewarded not only difficulty but also creativity, control, ex*****on, and precision. It was refreshing to see such a well-thought-out approach.

Sunday was all about power and endurance. Weighted pull-ups, weighted dips, muscle-ups, and battles where every repetition mattered. Endurance judging is probably one of the hardest disciplines in calisthenics because there is little room for interpretation-standards must be respected equally by everyone. Aligning both judges and athletes on those standards was one of my main responsibilities, and I’m proud of how smoothly everything came together.
Huge respect to the team and the head of the judging team Woj Calisthenics whom I align with on strictness and flexibility of judging a lot.
Watching my own athletes compete was another highlight. One of my veterans stepped onto the power stage despite not feeling his best after traveling and still performed with heart, gaining valuable experience 👑 My female athlete Sarah Throssell | Calisthenics dominated the endurance division with the cleanest performance of the day and deservedly took 🏆🥇 place. My Endurance male athlete andyMcNee narrowly missed the finals, pushing the eventual finalist into a real battle - a testament to the incredible progress he has made in such a short time.
A huge thank you to the organizers, judges, volunteers, athletes, and everyone who came to support the event.

We’re not building this sport alone.
It’s not about me.
It’s not about you.
It’s about us.
We’re making history together.
More to come.
