GUJRAT TITANS is what Pakistan T20I team could have been had they not jumped overly to modern day slogging without having resources.
If you compare GT with other 9 teams, you find them boring. All other teams have flamboyant opening pair who can make even 110 in power play but Gujrat has Shubman and Sudharshan who are technically sound batters who know how to score runs.
Gujrat doesn't care about other teams. They just rely on their game style and plans. They have some serious pace attack.
Their winning mantra is simple. One of top three should play till last with middle orders chipping in accordingly. They even won one IPL with Saha and Gill as their openers.
Why I compared them with Pakistan cricket cuz Pakistan doesn't have resources who could go and slog. Every team plans according to what they have.
Our 2021 T20I team and GT teams have resemblance. Babar Rizwan opening pair, middle orders who were able to chip in and firey pace attack.
We couldn't carry on that strategy after some failures that was understandable but what we did afterwards was very poor. We suddenly demanded our batters to go and slog. Mike Hesson and Agha didn't understand intent is all about scoring runs, not blind slogging. Resultantly, we went backward. And our bowling went worse which added further to chaos.
Saying this, GT is so different team yet gaining success and on top.
