Aristaeus The god of Beekeeing!
On the sun drenched slopes of Mount Othrys, Aristaeus, the god of beekeeping, stood before his humming apiary. Beside him, a mortal apprentice trembled as a cloud of golden bees swirled through the air.
"They are creatures of absolute purity," Aristaeus said, calming the youth. "To master them, you must first master yourself."
The god pointed to a freshwater basin. "Your first defense is Ritual Purity. Bees despise the scents of human chaos, sweat, heavy perfumes, and wine. Wash until your skin smells only of clear water, or they will sting you as an invader."
After the youth scrubbed his skin clean, Aristaeus pressed a headless golden bee medal into his palm. "This is an Apotropaic Amulet from the temple of Artemis. Wear it to steady your pulse. If your heart is calm, your hands will not shake, and a steady hand never crushes a bee."
The youth tied the amulet over his chest, feeling a wave of confidence.
"But what if a curse or sickness takes the whole hive?" the boy asked, looking at the fragile straw skeps.
Aristaeus looked toward the distant stone altars. "Then we use the ultimate protection of Bugonia. We sacrifice four unblemished oxen to the nymphs. From the quiet remains of the beasts, a new, disease free swarm miraculously rises born of sacrifice, fully reborn."
With clean skin, steady hearts, and divine favor, god and mortal reached into the hive together, harvesting the golden honey entirely unharmed.
