Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced a special Rs100-per-litre petrol relief scheme for eligible motorcyclists, rickshaw and Qingqi users, other two- and three-wheelers, and owners/users of vehicles with engines up to 800cc.

Under the scheme, motorcycles and three-wheelers can receive relief on up to 20 litres per month, while vehicles up to 800cc are eligible for up to 30 litres. This translates into maximum monthly relief of Rs2,000 and Rs3,000, respectively.

Eligible citizens must first register by sending “REG” followed by their CNIC and required vehicle details to 9771. After registration, they can obtain a fuel token by sending “TOK” to 9771, which can then be presented at participating petrol stations to purchase fuel at the subsidised rate.

The relief is scheduled to begin in Islamabad from the night between Monday and Tuesday, with rollout across the rest of the country from Wednesday–Thursday midnight.
