Gilgit, August 28, 2026:
The Aga Khan Rural Support Programme (AKRSP) and Hunza Premier League (HPL) have signed a collaboration to promote and strengthen girls' participation in sports across Gilgit-Baltistan.
Under this collaboration, HPL will implement a Multi-Discipline Girls' Sports Training Camps project covering four districts - Hunza, Nagar, Gilgit and Ghizer. The initiative will provide young girls with structured training opportunities in Badminton, Table Tennis and Volleyball, led by qualified coaches and supported with essential sports equipment and facilities.
The project aims to improve participants' technical skills, Scholarships hunting, physical fitness and competitive readiness while creating opportunities for talent identification and greater participation of girls in organized sports. It will also provide a platform for young female athletes from different districts to connect, learn and develop together.
Through this collaboration, training activities will be organized across the target districts, engaging local stakeholders, schools, sports facilities, coaches and communities to create a supportive and inclusive environment for girls in sports.
Hunza Premier League will lead the implementation, coordination, training camp management, participant engagement, monitoring and documentation of the project. HPL's existing experience in organizing sporting activities and its relationships with local coaches, venues and sports stakeholders will support effective implementation of the initiative.
The collaboration represents a shared commitment to empowering girls, building sporting skills and creating new opportunities for young women across Gilgit-Baltistan.
