𝐈𝐬𝐚𝐛𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐚 𝐂𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐫𝐚 𝐓. 𝐒𝐚𝐠𝐮𝐜𝐢𝐨 for receiving the 𝐁𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐬 award for her outstanding work, "𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘓𝘰𝘨𝘪𝘤 𝘰𝘧 𝘊𝘰𝘯𝘴𝘶𝘮𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘴𝘮: 𝘈 𝘍𝘳𝘰𝘮𝘮𝘪𝘢𝘯 𝘈𝘯𝘢𝘭𝘺𝘴𝘪𝘴."

Drawing on Erich Fromm's concept of social character, the thesis highlights how this market-driven lifestyle fosters emotional dependencies and reduces true human freedom from "the development of human potential" into mere consumer choices. Relying on consumption to define identity distorts the fabric of human existence, leading to profound disconnection, disengagement, alienation.

Keywords: Alienation, Capitalism, Consumerism, Social Character

This prestigious recognition is a testament to your intellectual rigor, academic excellence, and profound critical insight into the socio-psychological structures of modern society. Your work brilliantly elevates the discourse on human existence and capitalism, marking a significant contribution to the field. 🎉✨

Countless memories, challenges, readings, coffees, late-night study sessions, and tears come along the way.

Nevertheless, you made it. You are now 1 day away from hitting another milestone in your life.

All your efforts and hard work will be appreciated and awarded tomorrow, but what's important is that you are finally entering a new stage of life. A life that is new and unfamiliar.

Nonetheless, the Concilium and the Faculty wish every single one of you to succeed in life -- to apply what you have learned along the way and to inspire and grow with others, the same way you guys inspired and grew together.

As you prepare your suits or dresses and toga. Remember all the important lessons UST and AB Philosophy have imparted to you.🎓

Moments of gratitude, reflection, and celebration marked this special day as the Philosophy Class of 2026 gathered for the Baccalaureate Mass. From years of learning, questioning, and growing together, we pause to give thanks for the journey that has shaped us into the Tomasinong Pilosopos we are today.

As we prepare to step into new beginnings, may we carry forward the wisdom, values, and memories forged within the halls of the University. Congratulations, Philosophy Class of 2026—the journey continues. 💛

Special thanks to our alumni donators: Donneth Casillan and Adrian Balisi.

HAPPENING NOW | BACCALAUREATE MASS 2026 🎓

The Philosophy Class of 2026 is now gathered at QPAV in thanksgiving and reflection as the Baccalaureate Mass officially begins. From classrooms to this very moment, today celebrates the journey of every Tomasinong Pilosopo. 💭✨

𝐏𝐇𝐈𝐋𝐎𝐒𝐎𝐏𝐇𝐘 𝐂𝐋𝐀𝐒𝐒 𝐎𝐅 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 | 𝐁𝐀𝐂𝐂𝐀𝐋𝐀𝐔𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐓𝐄 𝐌𝐀𝐒𝐒 🎓✨

Today, May 29, 2026, the Philosophy Class of 2026 gathers in thanksgiving as we celebrate our Baccalaureate Mass—a moment to look back on the years that shaped us, challenged us, and helped us grow.

“Ngunit ngayon kay bilis maglaho ng kahapon
Sana'y huwag kalimutan ang ating mga pinagsamahan
At kung sakaling gipitin ay laging iisipin na
Minsan tayo ay naging tunay na magkaibigan.”

More than the lessons learned inside the classroom, philosophy taught us how to reflect, question, listen, and become better persons along the way. As we prepare to step into a new chapter, may we continue to carry the values and wisdom we formed throughout this journey.

Para sa mga Pilosopong Tomasino ng Batch 2026, padayon. 💛

DO YOU ALL KNOW YOUR ERASERHEADS, PHILOSOPHY? 🤔

MINSAN tayo ay naging tunay na magkaibigan… bakit MINSAN lang? Why not forever? Continue the friendship and philosophical debates as you exit the arch!

Huwag kalimutan ang mga pinagsamahan! ✊

[𝐒𝐓𝐔𝐃𝐄𝐍𝐓 𝐑𝐄𝐂𝐎𝐆𝐍𝐈𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍]

The sky’s the limit for him!

The UST Concilium Philosophiae extends its felicitations to Mr. Sean Ethan “Seth” M. Capisanan for being one of the Faculty of Arts and Letters’ 36 student awardees during the UST 2026 Student Awards.

Mr. Capisanan is the sole Artlet for this year’s Student Awards to be granted the St. Albertus Magnus Award for Outstanding Research (University-level).

Following St. Thomas Aquinas, may he continue to inspire others “to illuminate rather than to merely shine.”
