To everyone,
It is truly heartbreaking that our journey had to end this way.
Yes, we admit that we were unable to provide the financial support needed to continue our stay in the league. That responsibility is ours, and we accept it. We are not making excuses—we simply did everything we could with the resources we had.
However, we hope people will also understand our side before judging us.
We never used our players or the kids for our own benefit. We never asked them to pay just so they could play for us. Every decision we made was driven by one goal—to give these young athletes a chance to represent Subic, compete, and experience a league where they could grow as basketball players and as individuals.
From the very beginning, we were transparent not only with our players but also with their parents. We even created a group chat that included the parents so they would always know the game schedules, announcements, and everything happening throughout our journey. We wanted them to be involved every step of the way because we treated this team like a family. We never hid anything from them, and every update was openly communicated.
When we entered the league, we genuinely believed that as our journey continued, people would see our cause and extend their support. That is why we tirelessly looked for sponsors. Even our uniforms were not easy to acquire—we personally looked for sponsors just so our players could proudly represent Subic during the league opening.
We also want to correct some misconceptions regarding our transportation. We never had a service that was simply provided to us. Kami mismo ang nakiusap at naghanap ng masasakyan. During our entire campaign, we only had transportation twice, both for our 19U games, and both were only one-way trips going to the venue. After every game, we still had to make our own arrangements to get home.
Likewise, none of those transportation services were free. Every vehicle we used was made possible through the collective effort of the whole team, and we always contributed to the fuel expenses as part of the agreed rental. Nothing was simply handed to us without effort.
What hurts us the most is not that we failed financially. What hurts is seeing our intentions questioned, as if everything we did was for our own benefit. Those who truly know us have seen the sleepless nights, the personal sacrifices, the countless sponsorship requests, and the effort to keep this team alive—not for ourselves, but for the kids who only wanted the chance to play and proudly represent Subic.
We cannot control what others choose to believe, but we know in our hearts that we never took advantage of anyone. We simply ran out of resources before we ran out of dreams.
To our 17U and 14U teams, we are genuinely happy that your journey continues with people who are now able to support you. Continue playing with pride, represent Subic with all your heart, and never stop chasing your dreams. We will always be cheering for you.
To the entire ZYDL family and to all the remaining teams, we sincerely wish you the best of luck. May your league continue to inspire young athletes, and may more people continue supporting grassroots basketball.
Lastly, thank you to everyone who believed in us, trusted our vision, and stood by us through both the victories and the struggles. This may be the end of our journey in this league, but it will never be the end of our commitment to helping young athletes whenever we have the opportunity.
