Look who dropped by — John David Coming, Champion of the CVIRAA Meet 2026 Elementary Boys Category, and soon to represent the region 7 in the prestigious Palarong Pambansa. 🇵🇭

Alongside him were his battle-tested comrades from the Sogod Knights Club — a circle of rising tacticians and disciplined board warriors continuously making noise in the competitive chess scene.

Their visit brought inspiration and motivation to the young minds of Danao Chess Academy. Moments like these ignite the hunger to improve, dream bigger, and compete at the highest level. Seeing champions up close reminds our students that with discipline, dedication, and countless hours over the board, reaching regional and national stages is truly possible.

After years of quiet sacrifices, early mornings, long trainings, and unwavering faith, we are proud to celebrates a truly historic moment — congratulations to our very first Woman Candidate Master, LORRAINE BELLE I. REGIDOR!

Belle earned this title after placing 2nd in the Philippine National Youth Chess Championship (Standard Under 13 – Girls Category) held in Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental. Behind this achievement is not just talent, but courage, discipline, and a deep love for chess that never wavered.

What makes this victory even more meaningful is the journey behind it. After a heartbreaking 3rd place finish in the Cebu Provincial Meet, Belle chose to rise instead of retreat. She kept believing, kept working, and kept fighting. Truly, God had prepared something greater for her.

This milestone was shaped by the strength and guidance of her parents, Ma’am Madel and Sir Jeffry, whose constant support helped mold Belle into the player and person she is today. Our deepest gratitude as well to Coach Dione Patrick Miñoza for his patience, sacrifices, and fatherly care—not only for Belle, but for the entire Sogod Knights family. You are part of this victory.

We also thank NM Rogelio Enriquez Jr. and NM Merben Roque for generously sharing your knowledge, wisdom, and inspiration with our young players. Your guidance continues to shape future champions.

Chess is not for everybody — but it has no boundaries.

It demands imagination. It requires strategy. It tests planning, discipline, and an unbreakable will. And even then, excellence is never guaranteed. Unlike many sports, chess calls for deep concentration, critical thinking, and a level of perseverance that only those who truly understand the game can appreciate.

Last year, we surprised everyone.

This year, we are no longer the surprise — we are one of the strongest Chess Programs in the Province.

I am incredibly proud of our fellow Knights and their outstanding performance.

After three rounds:

♟️ 3 Knights remain undefeated in the Elementary Girls Division
♟️ In the High School Division, despite a very strong and competitive field, our Knights are right at the top — battling alongside the best players in the Province.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT 🕊️

Dear Chess Family,

Due to time constraints and the additional costs brought by our last-minute change of venue, we sincerely apologize that we will not be able to provide free lunch during our tournament tomorrow. 🙏

But don’t worry — there are plenty of nearby eateries at the venue, and for those who wish to dine out, SM Consolacion and CitiMall Consolacion are just a few minutes away. 🍽️

As we gather over the chessboard, let us also remember our kababayans in Northern Cebu who were displaced by the recent earthquake. ♟️💔 We will be accepting donations — in cash or in kind — throughout the event, and all proceeds from the tournament itself will go directly to support the affected families.

Let’s make this tournament not just a battle of minds, but also a game of hearts. ❤️
