🏀 TEAM ACADEME Opens Strong in the Southern Leyte 66th Founding Day Inter-Agency Sports Competition! 🏀

TEAM ACADEME, composed primarily of the dedicated faculty and staff of Southern Leyte State University, made an impressive statement in their opening game of the 66th Founding Day Southern Leyte Inter-Agency Sports Competition.

Facing Team Nationals at the Mambajao Gym in Maasin, Team Academe showcased excellent teamwork, determination, and competitive spirit, securing a convincing 78–56 victory.

With this strong opening performance, Team Academe improves to 1–0 in the tournament standings, setting the tone for an exciting campaign ahead. The team’s chemistry, discipline, and relentless effort on both ends of the court were on full display, earning them a well-deserved win.

Today marks a new beginning as our Varsity Players officially graduated and closed another meaningful chapter of their journey. Years of hard work, discipline, sacrifices, and dedication both inside the court and in the classroom have finally paid off.

The celebration became even more memorable as University President, Jude Duarte personally congratulated the graduates and shared lighthearted moments with them. Beyond the smiles and laughter was a reminder that their achievements are not only victories for themselves, but also for the entire university community. Out of 117 aspiring athletes who showed up and gave their all during the try-outs, only 26 players earned a spot to advance to the 2nd round. Every player stepped onto the court with passion, courage, and determination, making the selection process truly difficult for the coaches. Your effort, heart, and willingness to compete already speak volumes about your character and love for the game.

To those who advanced, congratulations and stay hungry — the journey is far from over. And to those who fell short this time, never let one result define your potential. This is only the beginning of your story. Keep grinding, keep improving, and continue chasing your dreams because opportunities will always come for those who refuse to quit. 🏀🔥

The SLSU Men’s Basketball Faculty and Staff Team successfully survived the qualifying round and earned the right to represent ACADEME in the upcoming Southern Leyte Founding Anniversary Inter-Agency Competition on June 16–18, 2026.

The team opened the day with a commanding victory over DepEd Maasin City Division, showing composure, teamwork, and determination on both ends of the floor. Carrying that momentum into the championship round against CM x SJC Faculty and Staff, SLSU controlled the tempo of the game from start to finish.

With discipline, heart, and strong team chemistry, SLSU sealed the championship with a convincing double-digit win at the final buzzer.

Congratulations to the entire SLSU Basketball Men Faculty and Staff Team for proudly carrying the SLSU spirit and proving once again what teamwork and dedication can achieve. SLSU, soar higher!
