GILAS LOCAL WISHLIST
With the recent change of Quentin Millora-Brown’s status in FIBA, there’s still plenty of players Gilas fans can wish on to be recorgnized as local and play for the national team in the future.
Jordan Clarkson (6-4,33 G)
Of course, there's no list like this without now-New York Knicks' guard Jordan Clarkson. Gilas fans may argue who is the better naturalized player between JC and JB but if ever the two joined forces, it would be epic and a spectacle to see. Clarkson is a legit-NBA firetorch. Efficiency maybe a question in his game but JC is undoubtedly unguardable on the international stage.
Angelo Kouame (6-11, 27 C)
Another naturalized player of Gilas, Kouame is a solid and reliable big inside, especially defensively. Granting him a local status can shore up our frontline as JMF and Japeth are catching up with age and effectiveness.
Mike Phillips (6-8,23 F/C)
Motor Mike is a workhorse big man of DLSU Green Archers. His energy, hustle and grit will greatly benefit the national team that lacks an animated player who hypes up the crowd. More than that, Philips is a reliable rebounder, has an expanding game and fits the timeline of our Gilas future core.
Zave Lucero (6-6, 25 F)
Zavier Lucero buzz with Gilas Pilipinas made noise after a surprise inclusion in the national team pool. His status remains uncertain though as he failed to even participate in training. If ever he will be pronounced as local, Zave’s versatility at his size could provide ample support. A capable scorer and defender, Lucero can be a reliable winger and even big in some small ball line-ups.
