Episode 10: From Operator to Leader
Leadership humbled me.
When I first started coaching, I was very autocratic. I wanted things done exactly my way. I wanted control.
Looking back, I realized it was ineffective—and honestly, a stupid way to lead.
So I changed.
But then I swung to the other extreme.
I became overly supportive to the point that I tolerated mediocrity. I allowed comfort. I was also moody—if the previous class didn’t perform well, it affected how I showed up for the next one.
And if I’m being real… I was judgmental too.
I would say positive words to my students, but deep inside, I didn’t fully believe in their potential.
SB LEAD changed how I see leadership.
I learned that leaders see the potential in people before they see it in themselves—and help ignite that inner fire.
I learned to pass the ball, trust others, and stop trying to control everything.
My coaching approach changed radically.
Now, I value teamwork more. Growth more. Leadership more.
Still learning. Still growing. But becoming better.
As a leader, what lesson humbled you the most? 👇
