Numbers Don’t Lie

We’ve seen plenty of cases where riders buy the same frame size across different brands and end up with a bike that’s either too big or too small.

Frame sizing today isn’t standardized. A size 52 from one manufacturer can fit very differently from a size 52 from another. In fact, if you look closely, there’s often nothing on the frame that actually measures 52 cm anymore. 🤷

The same goes for letter sizing—an XS from one brand could easily fit like a Small from another.

That’s why it’s always worth looking beyond the size sticker and consulting the geometry charts provided by the manufacturer. The numbers tell a much more accurate story than the label on the frame.

A little research before buying can save a lot of money, frustration, and fit adjustments later on.

World Bicycle Day 🚲

The best part of bike fitting is helping people enjoy their bikes more. Whether it’s comfort, performance, or confidence on the bike, it’s rewarding to play a small part in someone’s cycling journey.

A love for cycling and the community is what got us started in the first place. 🫡

Happy World Bicycle Day, and thank you to everyone who has trusted me along the way. 🙏🚴‍♂️

It’s been a while since we’ve seen Rex and his Ostro VAM - some notable changes since the last fit was the transition from Shimano to a SRAM drivetrain. This meant the hoods are longer and have a different feel.

Another notable change in the contact points was the saddle - a check up was long overdue. We went back to basics in dialing in the fit.

Fortunately, we were also able to see up close the models from Nimbl - from the Ultimate, the Glide and the lace-up models.

As a bike fitter, I am glad to see the wider platform available to work with cleat position and a wide last to accommodate cyclists with wide feet.

It was also great to catch up 🫡

Thank you Bacolod!

Past week’s been a blur, but always great to see everyone and a pleasure working with everyone.

Big thank you to Dan’s Bike Shop Bacolod for letting me work in the shop despite their busy schedule. Appreciate the guys also for letting me join their rides!

Til the next one 🫡

Seat post adjustments

We had raised the seatpost height on this Giant Revolt to improve efficiency on the pedals 🚴

The adjustments addressed hand pain and redistributed the load on the legs while pedalling.

Bacolod Bike Fits

Happy to be back home and having the opportunity to work at Dan’s. Great catching up with friends who’ve transitioned from mountain biking to road cycling. We’ve always talked about how unforgiving a road bike can be when it isn’t set up properly — that’s usually when all the little niggles start showing up.

A few key takeaways from yesterday:

1. Only buy slammed frames/forks if you’re absolutely sure you can comfortably ride a much lower stack height
2. Buy nice or buy twice
3. Don’t hesitate to reach out to your local bike fitter if you have concerns about your bike setup or position

Also nice getting to work and explain things in the native tongue 🫡

The Crux

The ever-reliable Specialized Crux — and still one of the easier bikes to work with from a fitting standpoint. External cable routing paired with standard seatposts and stems makes the process far more straightforward, especially when testing different cockpit configurations, handlebar positions, and everything in between.

Worked with Josh, who was highly perceptive to even the smaller changes made on the bike, which made the session smooth and efficient from start to finish. We even managed to catch the final stage of the Tour of Luzon playing in the background while dialing things in.

Thanks again for making the trip to Makati and trusting us with your fit. Best of luck in the upcoming race!

Putting in the Work

Fresh from his campaign in Slovenia and still jet lagged, Nash still made the time to have his set ups refined weeks before Tour of Luzon began. That level of discipline and commitment to improvement is always something to admire 🙌

Congratulations on an incredible Top 4 finish and fastest Filipino honors 🙌 Proud to see all the hard work unfold on race week!
