The National Chess Federation of the Philippines successfully concluded the WR Chess Bughouse Open Championship 2026 at the Quezon City Meeting, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (M.I.C.E.) Center, bringing together talented chess players and showcasing the growing excellence of Philippine chess.

Our heartfelt gratitude to the Quezon City Local Government, whose unwavering support made this championship possible, and to Quezon City Tourism for helping position Quezon City as a premier destination for national sporting events and mind sports competitions.

The Quezon City Sports Development Office proudly stands behind initiatives that strengthen grassroots sports development. We remain committed to supporting our young athletes especially the Quezon City Chess Team as we continue to nurture future champions from Grassroots to Gold.

Mula sa Tagumpay, Tungo sa Inspirasyon!

Matapos ang kanyang matagumpay na kampanya sa 24th ASEAN+ Age-Group Chess Championships sa Singapore at ang pagkilala sa kanya sa Ika-63rd Regular Session ng 23rd Quezon City Council, muling nagbigay-inspirasyon si Grandmaster Rogelio “Joey” Antonio Jr. kasama ang Quezon City Sports Development Office sa pamamagitan ng pagbisita sa tatlong paaralan sa Quezon City ang Pura Kalaw Elementary School, Jose P. Laurel High School, at Vito L. Belarmino Senior High School.

Layunin ng pagbisita na magbigay ng suporta, pagkilala, at inspirasyon sa mga batang chess players, habang patuloy na pinapalakas at pinalalawak ang grassroots chess program ng lungsod.

Higit pa sa isang laro, ang chess ay humuhubog ng disiplina, critical thinking, tamang pagpapasya, kumpiyansa, tiyaga, at sportsmanship, mga katangiang mahalaga hindi lamang sa board, kundi maging sa buhay.

Para kay GM Joey Antonio, ang pagbabahagi ng kanyang kaalaman at karanasan sa kabataan ay isang paraan ng pagbabalik at pagbibigay-inspirasyon sa susunod na henerasyon ng mga chess player.
