It was never going to be an easy passage to the semifinals.
With the final automatic semifinal berth at stake, 2BM Construction and Shoyu Trucks Trading fought through a physical, closely contested game in which neither side was willing to give much away. In the end, the difference was composure.
At the center of it was Nash Gapac, who gave the Groundbreakers the steady hand they needed when the pressure mounted.
Gapac finished with 20 points, three rebounds, eight assists, and four steals, directing the offense while making his presence felt on both ends of the floor. His ability to control the tempo, create opportunities for his teammates, and disrupt Shoyuโs possessions earned him Greenwood Impact Player of the Game honors.
It was the kind of performance that rarely depends on a single spectacular play. Gapacโs influence was felt throughout the contest, particularly in the moments when 2BM needed patience more than urgency.
The Groundbreakers ultimately prevailed, 82โ76, extending their winning streak to four games and, more importantly, securing the second automatic semifinal berth.
For Shoyu, the defeat means taking the longer road. The Trucks Trading squad will face the Courtside Fitness Balleros in a knockout quarterfinal in the SURVIVAL FEVER, where another loss would bring its campaign to an end.
For 2BM, the reward is a place in the final four. For Shoyu, the season now comes down to one game.
Marius Calderon topscored for the Groundbreakers with 27 points, seven three-pointers, four rebounds, three assists, and four steals. Benjamin Bernardo added eight points, seven rebounds, an assist, a steal, and two blocks. For Shoyu, Rodjohn Germino carried much of the offensive load with 26 points, seven rebounds, and five assists. Clark Sadia added 14 points, five assists, and two steals.
