FROM PLAYING IN SLIPPERS IN CEBU TO CHASING A DREAM IN SPAIN. 🇵🇭🇪🇸

At 19, Henry Suico is taking a basketball path very few young Filipino players have ever considered.

The Cebuano guard grew up playing on barangay courts in Mandaue, dreaming of the UAAP and becoming a professional basketball player. Europe wasn’t even part of the picture.

Now, after earning a scholarship with Zentro Basket Madrid, Henry is leaving home to develop in a program that has produced players who later reached the EuroLeague and NCAA Division I.

It means leaving his family, friends and everything familiar behind, for a chance with no guarantees.

But that’s exactly why his story matters.

Henry isn’t saying he’s made it. He’s betting on himself, taking the road less traveled, and hoping his journey can show the next kid from Cebu that there’s more than one way to chase a basketball dream.

His goals are big: the EuroLeague, Gilas Pilipinas, and proving that Filipino players can compete anywhere.

And for every young hooper watching:

“Where you start doesn’t have to limit how big you can dream.”

GILAS COMPLETES THE COMEBACK AGAINST IRAN! 🇵🇭

After trailing by as many as 13 points and scoring just 7 points in the first quarter, Gilas Pilipinas flipped the game around and pulled away late for a 68-56 win over Iran in the FIBA World Cup Asian Qualifiers.

Juan Gomez de Liaño and Dwight Ramos led Gilas with 16 points apiece, while Kai Sotto controlled the paint with 13 points, 16 rebounds and 3 assists. AJ Edu added 8 points, 8 rebounds and 3 blocks. 💪🇵🇭

FINAL: 🇵🇭 68–56 🇮🇷

With Kai on the floor, Gilas Pilipinas scores more efficiently, rebounds better, controls the paint, protects the rim, and most importantly, outscores its opponents.

Net Rating: +13.8 with Kai. -4.7 without him.

In simple terms, Net Rating shows how many points a team outscores or gets outscored by per 100 possessions. So with Kai, Gilas wins those minutes by a wide margin. Without him, the numbers swing the other way.

He doesn’t need to score 25 every game to change the game.

KJ Badajos gave everything she had. 🇵🇭❤️

She fought her way back, refused to quit, and left it all on the floor, but her comeback fell just short in the play-in at Jordan’s in Shanghai.

With Jared McCain in her corner coaching and cheering her on, and Stephon Castle watching from the sidelines, KJ showed the kind of heart that goes beyond the final score.
