Bridger Walker is a young boy from Cheyenne, Wyoming, who became widely recognized for his extraordinary act of bravery. On July 9, 2020, at just six years old, Bridger intervened to protect his younger sister from a charging dog. In the process, he was severely bitten on the face, requiring over 90 stitches. When his father asked why he had stepped in front of the dog, Bridger responded, “If someone had to die, I thought it should be me” .
His selfless act captured the hearts of people worldwide, including celebrities like Anne Hathaway, Mark Ruffalo, and Chris Evans, who praised his courage and offered support. Evans, known for portraying Captain America, even sent Bridger a personalized video message and an authentic Captain America shield as a token of appreciation .
In recognition of his heroism, the World Boxing Council (WBC) honored Bridger with an honorary championship title, dubbing him “the bravest man on Earth” . Additionally, Bridger had the opportunity to visit the set of Spider-Man: No Way Home, where he met stars Tom Holland and Zendaya, fulfilling a promise made by Holland .
Despite the physical and emotional challenges following the attack, Bridger views his scar as a symbol of his protective love for his sister. His father shared that Bridger considers the scar something to be proud of, as it signifies that his sister is safe .
