Despite only having a 5-minute interval between their first two games, the IHMA Blue Spikers were able to secure both victories to start off their Unit Meet 2026 campaign in dominant fashion.
Even with the jitters and anxiety that comes at the start of every tournament, in their first game against Badas National High School, the squad took the game in consecutive sets, 25-11, 25-9.
In their second game, the fatigue showed, with the first set ending in a closer margin than expected,25-17. But, in the second set, the team found their rhythm leading to a dominant 25-9 game-clinching set.
According to team captain Felcian Motilla, the short interval between games really threw off their performance in the beginning of the second match. Motilla credited the teamโs ability to bounce back and close the game off strong to the timely adjustments and encouragement by their coach, Nelito Alfonso.
โTwo straight wins to start off the tournament is big for us. This will not only boost the morale of the team, but also help us play more confidently and comfortably in the next games,โ added Motilla.
The blue spikers are set to play two more games today.
